Nope, didn't have a clue. I hope it's not bone-crushingly difficult.
It's tough, but its nowhere near as difficult as the old GnG games. I really enjoyed it and its sequel. (The sequel, however, moved the series away from its GnG roots and it much easier.)

Isn't this one pretty rare/expensive? Was it an ARPG?

It's an SRPG. It's pricy in box, but cartridge only it's not too bad. It was one of the games in the blister packs that SNK used to clear out excess stock after the NGPC died. That's how I got my copy - £16 along with Sonic, Gals Fighters and Puzzle Link.

Got Yakuza 2 yesterday finally. Had to buy a Disc for 18 and the manual/case for 5 later LOL. 23 for a nice complete copy though, so no complaining. Been thinking of diving into the series now that I have what I believe are all 5 NTSC releases.

I have read/heard that one is not that great and maybe is to be skipped. What are your thoughts on this?

Interesting. I'd heard the opposite, that Yakuza 2 was one of best in the series and has a really tight plot.

Edit: Misread what you wrote. Yakuza one is quite a good game though and should be super cheap.

I've loved all three Yakuza games that I've played through.

Yakuza is awesome for the English dubbing, noteworthy cast, and amazing beat-em up action and over the top story.
Yakuza 2 is more of the same awesome action and more crazy store, with Japanese dialogue.
Yakuza 3 is pretty great. I dug it.
I haven't played 4 or Dead Souls yet.

My guess is that I got lucky because, although somewhat rare, less people are looking for it. The Japanese version regularly goes for under $10, though, so you would want to go that route.

Is it sad I haven't actually touched it except to check to make sure it works?

After getting over the elation of getting Earthbound I suddenly became horribly apprehensive about testing it because, dear God, what if it didn't work? It was two weeks before I popped it into the SNES to test it. So, so far, you're doing better than me
