And yet, it was pretty damn cool too. Honestly kinda made me want to take another crack at 13, which I never finished because I thought it was awful.

I know it's a recap vid and all but I found it hilarious how basically 30 odd hours of FFXIII is cut out. Shows how much actual plot there is in that game.

It does gloss over a lot, even for a recap. Most plots would seem like there's nothing to them if simplified that far.

I think the XIII series is arguably more character driven than plot overall. For better or worse... indeed.

The first game is angst buddy system (two characters constantly paired up for most of it) central with probably the most transparent villain in the franchise. If you don't like the 6 main characters, you're shit out of luck unless you love reading datalogs about some fantasy world for some details.

XIII-2 is pretty much the same, but I liked the new cast and it had an actual recurring villain that did things and had a name. Along with fixing all the gameplay issues I had with the first, so it was worthwhile.

tl;dr I guess what I could have been saying in this thread the whole time, is that plot is the absolute LAST thing I'm going into LR for. It just looks gorgeous, damn fun, and has awesome music. lol

I agree FFXIII was more character driven, which is no bad thing. It's just when those characters are Hope, Snow and Vanille...yeah.

I'm still waiting on a review or two of LR before I make my final decision as there are some aspects of the gameplay the demo doesn't address (the countdown system, how open the world will be, if the countdown will restrict exploration and experimentation). Thanks to japan, I already know the ending is batshit insane so I'm not worried about plot.

Otherwise I'm sold on LR.
