Finally played through BioShock!
I picked it up on Friday and played through it this weekend and finished it last night. I really can't wait for BioShock 2 or the movie. If anyone here has not played through it, I highly recommend it!

I finally picked this up on Black Friday for $10, and it's on my to-do list. How long does a play-through take?

I'll wait for the movie. I just didn't like the pacing and layout of the game, or the RPG elements. The story seems interesting, but after 8 big daddies, I just couldn't take it anymore. The game felt so half-assed.

I loved this game. In fact, the motto on my XBL profile is "Would you kindly ...?"
Lots of interesting stuff going on with this game when you stop and think about it. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and fully-realized setting. I'm very much looking forward not so much to Bioshock 2, but to whatever Ken Levine does next. It's very smart of 2K not to force him to helm the Bioshock sequel, but to let him continue to be creative.

Bioshock was great. Then I played a bit of System Shock 2, and realized that what Yahtzee said was true. It's not like System Shock 2, it IS System Shock 2. Albiet a prettier one with a dumbed down interface.

And much, much, much easier. And less scary.

In my opinion Bioshock was GOOD, no more, no less but gaming websites have made it out to be some gaming masterpiece and a visionary game ahead of its time, which couldn't be farther from the truth. The game relies on a lot of dated game design mechanics(respawning enemies, fetch quests, an escort mission, making enemies tougher by just increasing their health, etc.). There's cheap hits everywhere from those stupid hidden turrets. Plus, the weapons don't feel right and the game has a SERIOUS lack of enemy variety.Mozgus wrote:I'll wait for the movie. One of the most overrated games to come out in recent years. Just my opinion though. I'm not gonna say I didn't enjoy it at all, I just didn't think it was THAT good. Nice story though, but not as deep and complex as people make it out to be

^ Sums up my thoughts exactly. I got the good ending and didn't feel arsed to play through it again so I watched the bink video ending. Sometimes I think game critics are just too much.
