So, before I fire up part 3, do they add anything at all new to it?
Not really. Uncharted 2 actually did add some elements to the formula - stealth was added in, there was more focus on melee, the set pieces (which are a big draw for the series) are bigger, better, and more varied in locale than the first game. When I played them, also back to back, I felt like 2 was a notable step up.
The third game didn't feel like it actually improved on much. A good bit actually felt like it was scaled back some in order to be able to run in 3D. Could be I just expected more from it though.

In retrospect, it was kind of logical - at that point, Naughty Dog had split off a bunch of people to work on the Last of Us, so Uncharted 3 being a "by the numbers" outing winds up making sense.

I think it's still a solid game for what it's trying to do, but the high point of the series so far, for me, was 2.

Terrible, just more of one. I thought they would have at least given something new to it. A leveling system would help a ton, oh well.....
I agree the Uncharted games are awful, but why would a leveling system help anything?

I felt the same way when I beat this early last year. the game isn't bad, just... more of the same and it felt like I was playing the exact same game, beat for beat even in the story.
Jeesh I never thought that Uncharted was this divisive. Uncharted 2 has some of the best storytelling and sense of "thrill ride" of any game in the 7th gen. I would agree that the combat needed some work, but I don't get the other comments. The set pieces, the voiceacting, the facial animation, the cinematic experience of it all ... top notch.

Make the player stronger as the game goes on. Even make him able to carry more ammo. Maybe include some crafting even a small amount. Just something to add something to the game. Give the player some incentive to find artifacts.

Even if they just made him a better shooter as time goes on, more gun control. Anything to break the monotony of duck, cover, shoot, rinse, repeat. I really felt like I was playing Killzone. That is a good thing when I want a Killzone experience. It is my fault for not liking it really, I did not do my due diligence in research. Had I done my work and knew what I was getting into it would have been more enjoyable. I expected something and it was not there.

I agree, it was the things you state but it also was set in a shooter, not a platformer or adventure game. My whole beef with the game is this. I really think the story would really have been enhanced by more adventuring elements. More disappointment than hate. :D

You can say the set pieces and voice acting are great...yes, but if you play the first two games, back to back, you experience an identical story beat for beat, which is a detraction to the experience. Add to it the mediocre shoot-'em-up mechanics that break up each cutscene leaves a lot to be desired... not to mention the uninspired enemies you fight, again, almost identical to the first. The game isn't bad. The platforming and visuals are great. I just do not see the brilliance that everyone else sees. For me it seemed the same as the first, not bad, but not great.

I didn't play them back-to-back, but I honestly am confused as to how they're the same story.
Unless you're saying that they're both adventure stories modeled after Indiana Jones, where the main character is following the footsteps of an ancient explorer and encounters something supernatural. I guess if you pull that far back from it, it is the same, but a lot of the details diverge them quite a bit. I mean just the added dynamic of Chloe as a character changes things quite a bit.

1. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - PS3
2. Metro: Last Light - Steam
3. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction - *Challenge Mode* - PS3

Not sure if this counts, but i beat R&CF:ToD again, this time on challenge mode.

It was totally awesome on New Game+ mode the 2nd time, got to use all my weapons/devices and newer armor.

Lets not forget the Omega RYNO 4-Ever for the low price of 50,000,000 bolts, which i swiftly upgraded to Version X! and just ran through the worlds plastering enemies into the wall!

If every R&C game is this fun, i cant wait to start up A Crack in Time.

The similarities relate to having a friend, you think they backstabbed you, but then maybe they didn't...but maybe they did, but maybe they didn't. Bad Guy is looking for treasure, blowing everything up to find treasure. You uncover a deathly supernatural secret related to the treasure, fight supernatural monsters, the treasure is used in some way to defeat the bad guy.
that is a broad generalization of the plot, but when you really look at it, how those plot points play out is almost identical, down to at what times certain types of enemies are introduced.
