Sega Saturn Emulation....

Post by alexjames01 »

Ok... I have been trying to get any Sega Saturn emulator to actually work for me for about 2 years now with no luck. I come back and try on a new PC every few months it seems to no avail.

I'm about to give it my last shot. First of all, does anyone else have this problem? Secondly, does anyone want to give me a simple step-by-step here?

What would be the best emu to use? My system is fine and can easily handle it. Its just the emulator will automatically close or do basically nothing (*cough*SSF*cough*) after loading the game (i DO have the bios and have it set up).

Any ideas or tips? :|

Get a Saturn and install one of Racket's mod chips.

While that is the best solution, I think a good answer to the emulation question would be greatly appreciated.
It's a valid concern....

Not sure why SSF doesn't work for you. As long as you feed it the BIOS, the default settings pretty much take care of things.

I'm about to try another game here in a few minutes (hopefully that's it). At first it would simply close and now I am getting the dreaded "ati2kmdag driver stopped responding and has recovered" which i get at times with some other games.

I've searched endlessly for a solution to that problem before and it still is a mystery. I've updated my drivers and so on.

I also tried it on my desktop and it refuses to work as well.

It happens whenever the emulator says "CD Drive open"

This is where it freezes up and give me a display error. It does this however everytime i try to load a game or save any settings.

Are you mounting the game iso's to a virtual drive, or are you burning them to an actual CD-ROM and using them in the disc drive?

I was mounting them but i just got SSF working

It was my graphics card actually as it finally stopped freezing and closing when i changed my vista theme to windows classic. Even though its rather new, i guess it couldn't handle both.

It runs now and at pretty decent speeds :D

So vista yet again is the problem. Not a surprise.

Vista + gaming doesn't cope with a mediocre computer. You always need your specs bumped up from XP. Why this is progress, who knows? I would love there to have been a serious investment in 64-bit XP compatibility, but since there isn't we're stuck with Vista until 7 comes around.
