Hello,
I have a softmodded Wii that I want to upgrade to the latest firmware, except that I do not know how to do that and I do not want to connect online and have my Wii bricked. Can any one walk me through it?
Tell me what you need to know like current firmware version and everything else.
Help upgrading modded Wii to latest firmware
Re: Help upgrading modded Wii to latest firmware
Download a program called ModMii via your Windows-based PC.
Run it, follow the directions. You'll need an SD card to copy its output to so that you can get your Wii updated. It's so easy it should be illegal.

Re: Help upgrading modded Wii to latest firmware
Ok thanks, its funny how modding a Wii was difficult and complex then it changed into acceptable difficulty if you know what you are doing and now you have an app that will do everything...
I will test this and write back

Ok,
I downloaded the ModMii , I did setup the SD card and inserted in my Wii. Here is what I did;
-I installed BootMii both as boot2 and IOS
-There was an IOS installer in the HBC , I installed that
-I installed the Priiloader (not sure what this is)
- I did run IOS patcher, I do not even know what this does either
Then I went to my Wii system menu it still says 4.2U . I did some reading online and some forums said that everything should work fine like running the latest games with the motion plus even if the system menu is not upgraded .
I tried to go to the Nintendo Channel which I didn't visit since like 2009 , it said some ERROR and that Nintendo Channel is suspended . So I tried to go to the Nintendo shop channel and it said that for me to access the Nintendo Shop I need to upgrade to 4.3 .
I am still not sure how I should upgrade to 4.3 without bricking my Wii.

Re: Help upgrading modded Wii to latest firmware
doing an update to 4.3 will remove your homebrew channel, but it shouldn't brick your Wii.
after updating, just run through ModMii again to re-mod your console

You either didn't follow the instructions that ModMii generated for you, didn't choose 4.3 as the system version you wanted after modding in the ModMii wizard, or a combination of both.
Re-run the ModMii wizard, and then use the SD card to mod following the instructions that were generated (they are saved as an HTML file if you closed them).
Re: Help upgrading modded Wii to latest firmware
thanks it worked!
I was trying to find instructions after I inserted the SD card but I didn't know it was in the HTML file so I just tried to figure it out myself.
The mistake I did was not to run the WAD manager , I thought WAD manager was something to make you install WiiWare titles which I was not looking for . I thought the firmware was going to be upgraded through the IOS installer.
My god , the internet channel sucks big time! it looks like something from '97 . I still think that the Wii menu with the Wii Mote can be implemented as a better all in one entertainment console over something like Kinect
