And to tell the truth, as down on TNA as I've been lately, that opening with Sting coming out and calling out the boys from the back into the ring, actually got me excited.
its impossible they are trying to make money of a star created in the late 80's or early 90's . Sting was the face of WCW back in '92 maybe...
Actually, by the end of the night, he was fired. I'm not sure the status on his real contract, I don't follow the dirt sheets, so I'm not sure if he's gone for real or not.
But Sting was the face of WCW from about '92 all the way to about '98 when Goldberg took the spot from him. The 80s was definitely Flair's time.
I think HBK was shooting on the Rumble panel tonight. He said Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan are the future of the company. He also told fans to take heart. Even though things look bad for Bryan, his time will come and it will be amazing
If any of you didn't see it, the Bryan/Wyatt match was fucking awesome. While Bryan was carrying the match, I can't take anything away from Wyatt. He was awesome and delivered a badass Sister Abigail outside the ring on Bryan. I love Bryan doing the kip up or nip up, whatever you call it, in tribute to HBK during the match. Bray Wyatt later attacked Cena, costing him the title match, Bray Wyatt's stock has definitely been elevated tonight with both Cena and Bryan putting him over as THE heel in the company right now. Hilariously, the crowd did yes chants for the post match beat down Bray Wyatt delivered to Cena.
I love when Flair predicted Batista would win the Rumble, waited for the crowd to pop, and seemed genuinely surprised by the lukewarm response he got. He was like, "C'mon guys. Batista! He's awesome right?" and the crowd was like, "If his name isn't Daniel Bryan, we don't care". I'm not sure Fair gets it. Bryan is the man right now and he was the ONLY guy the crowd wanted to see win the Rumble and they didn't even get to see him compete in it. You suck WWE
Lesnar was fucking awesome tonight. He DESTROYED Big Show, beat him like a red headed step child. He BROKE A FREAKING CHAIR on Big Show, after like 100 chair shots. He also had Show on his shoulders during the match and pretty much walked around the ring carrying him before delivering the F5.
Roman Reigns got some pops tonight, but by the end of the Rumble it seemed like the crowd was only popping for him because Bryan wasn't in the Rumble and they were so vehemently against Batista winning it that they chose to cheer for Reigns when it came down to him and Batista. Still, as soon as Rey Mysterio came out at number 30 the crowd was mostly doing boos for the rest of the Rumble match. They were furious that Bryan wasn't in the Rumble match. Sheamus didn't seem to know what to do with the crowd booing him. Cena and Orton also seemed legitimately thrown off during their title match by how much the crowd shat all over them. I was shocked that Cole on commentary even acknowledged that many WWE fans consider Bryan the "Uncrowned Champion"
This Rumble was a lot like that Monday Night Raw before the title unification match where the crowd hijacked the show. The crowd was foaming at the mouth for Bryan throughout the entire pay per view. This guy gets Attitude Era pops and is pretty much the only guy in the company who does
I feel like I'm witnessing history here. WWE has tried convincing us for years that Cena was "the guy". The successor to Rock and Austin, and now we're seeing who "the guy" really is. Lesnar, Wyatt and Bryan are where the money's at right now. Speaking of which, a Lesnar/Bryan match would be fucking epic!

"WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley sounded off on Twitter about the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. "Does WWE actually hate their own audience?" Foley asked. "I've never been so disgusted with a PPV." Follow him online at Twitter.com/realmickfoley"
"WWE star Daniel Bryan wrote a pair of tweets about his absence from the Royal Rumble match. "They try to keep US down and away from the top spots, but they can't ignore the reactions forever," Bryan wrote in his first tweet. "Keep voicing your opinions. #YESMovement"
Bryan followed up six minutes later. "Sorry guys, the machine wanted me nowhere near the Royal Rumble match," he wrote. "But I thank everyone for their support. YOU are the #YESMovement". [Thanks to Dot Net reader Christian Krasteff]"

Who isn't gushing about Bryan? Bryan's what's hot right now. He's pretty much all people are talking about coming out of the Royal Rumble. He's getting massive pops everywhere even in non wrestling circles
I feel like I'm the only regular contributor to this thread who actually realizes what a big deal that is. This is like the first time I can think of that a guy got this over (Austin level pops) and WWE didn't capitalize on it, and the kind of backlash they are getting for that I've never seen before in all my life as a wrestling fan. It's the biggest story in pro wrestling right now. I can't remember the last time I saw a PPV where EVERY SINGLE TOP BABYFACE got booed. Well, except for Punk. He's the only guy who didn't suffer the Bryan fan backlash. But the crowd took Rey Mysterio, Batista, Cena,Sheamus and to some extent even Roman Reigns to the woodshed. That crowd gave WWE the middle finger. You could even hear the production crew trying, and failing, to tone down the boos Batista was getting

Didn't catch the PPV but will be hosting a Raw shin-dig tonight.
Reading the last few pages of this thread has been...something. For me, all the fun of wrestling is sucked out when it is taken seriously. I don't care about "faces" and "heels", as it's duders in underwear running around clobbering each other. As long as they keep that up and sprinkle in a cute girl skipping around a ring, it's all good with me.

Well, isn't that what the internet is all about? Everyone has an opinion and theirs is always right, no matter how trivial the topic.
This is the best synopsis I've seen and like the guy said in this article all this is doing is helping Daniel Bryan become even more popular, but at some point you have let him and the fans have that moment. The crowd was waiting for that moment like every entry after number 20 and never got it and they voiced their displeasure. If I would of payed $50 for the pay-per-view or bought a ticket to the event I would of been pissed too. It's not just the Daniel Bryan thing as I thought the rest of the card sucked too, except for well the match Bryan was in. That was highly entertaining.

There's no nice way to say this, but the fact that you're the type of fan WWE caters to these days is ultimately what is killing the product
