Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2
Re: Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2
If you're looking for the best physical-release, home console versions of RE games, don't bother with the GC (PS2) ports of 2, 3 or CV. You'll want the Dreamcast releases.

I was under the impression that the GameCube and Dreamcast versions of 2 and 3 are more or less identical.pierrot wrote:If you're looking for the best physical-release, home console versions of RE games, don't bother with the GC (PS2) ports of 2, 3 or CV. You'll want the Dreamcast releases.

It's my favorite as well, though for the sake of being thorough I have not played RE3. CV seemed like the only story that had some nuance. I really love the RE: Remake as well though.CD AGES wrote: I also feel the same way. CV is easily my favorite in the entire series. I've beat the DC port quite a few times and when i heard of the minor changes that were added to the CV X, I refused to experience it on anything but Dreamcast. That is why I FINANLLY imported Kanzenban on Dreamcast last year and finally played it the way i always wanted to for the first time.

Yeah, Code Veronica is my favourite Resident Evil game too and it's also probably because the story had more nuance. I can't really pin my finger on it, but something about it just really gripped me.

No. Quite the contrary. You can find info regarding the topic on some of the older threads here on the forum.CavZee wrote:I was under the impression that the GameCube and Dreamcast versions of 2 and 3 are more or less identical.pierrot wrote:If you're looking for the best physical-release, home console versions of RE games, don't bother with the GC (PS2) ports of 2, 3 or CV. I don't understand all these people saying the Dreamcast version is better. Added modes and cutscenes on Code Veronica X, why wouldn't you want that?
I understand CD Ages suggestion of Biohazard CV Kanzenban, since he explained it's basically is the X version, only released in Japan on Dreamcast. But the regular Dreamcast version?
I just fail to see how less = better.

Re: Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2
But there is no extra mode. Battle mode exists in the regular release of DC Code Veronica but it must unlocked. The less that the orginal release lacks from "X" boils down to a new hairdo for Steve and one real major cutscene at the end of the game that has any dramtic effect to the games story. That's it! Maybe its just me but I much rather have VMU support and 480p over that stuff.BurningDoom wrote: I just fail to see how less = better.

IDK eithet. Playing the Dreamcast version after originally playing X I really missed the cut scene where Wesker "meets" Claire outside that mansion.BurningDoom wrote:I don't understand all these people saying the Dreamcast version is better. Re: Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2
i was going to also say the DC version is my preference LOL, this is almost as bad as comparing RE4 GC and PS2 i have the GC version of that as well before it went cross platform even says only for GC in the upper right hand cornerCD AGES wrote:Truthfully, Biohazard Code Veronica Kanzenban on Dreamcast destroys both ports mentioned here. Heck, even standard Resident Evil CV release is still better even with the lack of "X" additions which is simply just additional cutscenes added to the campaign. Games look mighty fine running in 640x480 VGA resolution.
Re: Code Veronica Gamecube vs PS2
Oh! I Completely forgot about that extra cinematic. Sorry, my bad. That scene in particular is def a highlight in the CV X update. I remember seeing that cutscene for the first time just last year after playing Kazenban on Dreamcast. I was rather surprised of not only seeing Claire meeting Wesker for the first time in the series, but also how he goes mad pimp'n on her. And I mean MAD PIMPCavZee wrote: IDK eithet.
