Re: Video Game "Look what I found"

Found some game related goodness the last week or so. Went to the local Goodwill and the Sheriff's Thrift last weekend. Both places are hit or miss, with a heavy leaning towards the miss. The Sheriff thrift has a tendency not to price smaller items, so you end up having to ask for a price and, depending on the person, can be quoted a range from anywhere from $0.50-5.00. And Goodwill can't seem to decide whether to price their games at $3 or $6. But I managed to find a couple of things on the low end anyway.

Resident Evil Dead Aim - $3
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - $0.50
Buster's Hidden Treasure - $0.50

My favorite thrift store has been much better to me lately. First I found a cute puzzle and some Pokemon trading Card holders.

Then there were a couple computer games and a surprise PS3 game.

Sim City 3000
Operation Crusader
Assassins Creed II

I tried to get Assassins Creed II a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale at Gamestop, but of course the stores I went to either didn't have it or had it disk only in a crappy case. Imagine my surprise when I saw it sitting there on the self, booklet and all, like a sign from the Gaming Gods.

Not too sure about Operation Crusader. Apparently its abandonware now and the previous owners obviously didn't care for it because the two disks are still wrapped and all the included paper doesn't look like it's ever been touched.

Also found a plastic baggy filled with Mario and Angry Birds characters.

And a blue...farm cow? Whatever. He's kind of cute. I'll keep him.

Mom thought the Angry Birds were a hoot (Ha!). She also really likes Star Wars, so I've been thinking about buying a shadow box and putting the birds in it so she can take it to work. I thought it might amuse her.

They also had this:

Gamecube with AV and power cable
2 controllers
Memory card
Luigi's Mansion
Super Mario Sunshine
Mario Kart Double Dash
SNES adapter

None of the games have their manuals :( But Double Dash has been on my want list for a while so I'll just have to deal with it for the time being. The other two games will eventually be used for trade fodder. The SNES adapter was not originally part of the deal, but the guy behind the counter and threw it in as a...bonus, I guess.

This marks my 3rd Gamecube purchase *sigh* Yes. I've become that person and I'm trying to accept it. On the bright side, at least they're all different colors

Total: Free

How'd I manage that? Because my favorite thrift store just happens to have gift certificates and someone gave me one for Christmas. And I still have some money left on it. Yippie.

Did you get 1 or both cords with it? It can be used with NES or SNES depending on which you're using.

There were no cords for it. I looked everywhere in the isle for it and just found phone chargers and Ian cords. I don't see any of the cords for sale anywhere.

The cords are proprietary as you can see by the socket on the stick. It came with NES and SNES ones. I doubt anyone makes replacements commercially. Would need to find them or have someone tinker and come up with a plug or simply mod it internally with a cable from a dead pad or an extension or something.

Look online and memorize what it looks like.

Maybe you'll get lucky and find it one day!?

Be aware that it also came out for genesis. Dont remember if its tips are the same where it goes in to the stick.

Sadly, i've come across both cords and stick in the past; and i never bought them since I thought i would never find the other.

And I'm always buying random stuffs.

I'll keep an eye out for it.

That's the Capcom Fighter Power Stick-it's great for Street Fighter on the Snes. If you had both cords, it's worth about $50. The stick itself is worth about $15 and the cords tend to sell for about $12-$15 dollars for each one, or $30ish for both. I picked it up at a thrift store last spring with an SNES cord only. It's a nice controller.

Awesome find for me. I've been trying to find a Sega CD at a cheap price for years. I found this at the local game shop.
