How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?

Ok Ziggy, you got plenty of platformers. But what about beat 'em ups, fighters, and general action/adventure? If you're looking to explore a bit, I suggest playing things like The Peace Keepers, Power Instinct, The King of Dragons, Super Turrican, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, or WeaponLord.

Which reminds me: I wanted to ask you, are there any good console exclusive beat em ups for the SNES that are cheap......ish?

Good yes, cheap and good... hmmm...

There's a comic book hero themed one called Sonic Blast Man which is decent but not spectacular and only single player if I recall, which happens to be a problem with a lot of SNES beat'em ups. Its sequel is much better but it's also five times the price.

I'm close to halfway through MMX2 right now. Wow, I'd have to say this game is easier than the first X. I've already beat 2 or 3 bosses with just the X buster.

That's the thing, I'm not looking to explore per se. I'm more looking to clear out my backlog. Most of these are games that I own and have never played. I own all those carts with the exception of Demon's Crest, Soul Blazer, and the SFC RPGs.

But we'll see what happens. I still gotta look through my carts and remember which (non-RPG) games I haven't beaten yet, or played at all. Here's my list of games, for reference:

add Rudra no Hihou to that list, i think its a better game than Treasure Hunter G, also Rudra no Hihou is a traditional rpg like final fantasy, not a tactics/strategy rpg.

I play tested a Treasure of the Rudra cart once, but I don't remember it. I do remember Treasure Hunter G, however, from play testing it. I was actually getting sucked into the game while testing, but I didn't have the time to play an RPG at that time. I thought to myself, "I'll have to play this game at some point." I know it's a tactical RPG like Shining Force or something, and I thought it played pretty well.

X2 definitely has the easiest Sigma battle by far to me. If you're good at the wall jumping, it's a cake walk.

All around, yeah I think both X2 and X3 are easier than X.

Yes. X2 Sigma is a joke. You'll probably beat him on your first try.

Hey, you've got some great stuff. I'd suggest trying these out, if you haven't yet: Arkanoid, Captain Commando, Cybernator, Hook, Knights of the Round, Ninja Warriors, Plok, Skyblazer, TMNT Tournament Fighters, Top Gear 3000, and X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse.

I kid, I kid, but what do you mean by "cheap......ish"? Unfortunately since the SNES has become so popular, even some of the hidden stuff has gone up drastically in price. King of Dragons is a perfect example, having gone from under $15 in 2010 to over $40 now. But I'll try to come up with a list of NTSC-U recommendations for you. Some of these may have originally been arcade games that got ports or may now be available on Virtual Console but generally haven't appeared anywhere else. I also have notes on a couple.

These price points are rough guidelines to what I see these going for today. Not all of them are true beat 'em ups, as a few have platforming elements, such as Spawn and X-Men. And keep in mind that there's other stuff that did receive ports which are still worth checking out, like Magic Sword and Captain Commando. And there's a bunch of NTSC-J stuff I don't know anything about, like UFO Kamen Yakisoban.

Also, the NTSC-J Rushing Beat series is worth checking out(Rival Turf!, Brawl Brothers, and The Peace Keepers in NTSC-U regions, though the NTSC-J versions are superior), though they definitely improve over the course of the series.

You're not. I also think it is awesome. I just wish it had come out a bit later in the SNES's lifetime so that the programmers - who would have been more experienced with the hardware by that point - could have worked in more of the arcade game's features.
