How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
I do own a wii and it is hacked but I never had a chance to get the 66 gig hard drive from best buy so my friend can give me everything I wanted on the wii, nes, snes etc. I just need to save and wait for a deal. That's all

If your main concern is SNES (or older) stuff, you'd be fine with just sticking them on the SD card that has HBC on it. Even something as small as a 1GB card will let you stick enough SNES games on it to have some fun with.
I'm in a similar position as you, Mas. I love collecting, but cannot afford it. So, I try to ride the line between cost-appropriate and accurate. I'm pretty dang pleased with how the Wii handles 16-bit stuff all around.

I have most of my wanted NES, SNES, Genesis, and PCE games on a 2 gig SD card. I am sure if you pair down your SNES games you could easily fit them on a 1 gig card.dunpeal2064 wrote:If your main concern is SNES (or older) stuff, you'd be fine with just sticking them on the SD card that has HBC on it. Yes, a good bit of every library is stuff you're not going to play anyway. Sturgeon's law of "90% of everything is crap."
When I put all of the roms I wanted on my tablet I went through and chose what I was actually going to play instead of having entire video game console libraries taking up space for no real reason.
If you find you want to add something else later you always can.

you can get a 16 gb sd card for $10 and its more than enough, I have full rom sets for nes snes pce genesis gba game boy master system and still have room. you will need a 32 gb card if you want all the sega cd games though, but those can be had for $20mas wrote:I do own a wii and it is hacked but I never had a chance to get the 66 gig hard drive from best buy so my friend can give me everything I wanted on the wii, nes, snes etc. I just need to save and wait for a deal. Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
So I *know* that it wouldn't be as good as an XRGB, but I picked this up:
So long story short, I haven't played pretty much ANY SNES during the entire year of 2013 because of my bastard setup. Now that I have this HDMI thing, I can just hit the source on my AVR and turn the SNES on, instead of having to mess with what seemed like a million settings. I'll be playing much more SNES this year, I know it!
I'd love to get an XRGB-mini at some point. But it's just not in the budget right now. This'll be fine for now.
There's a number of SNES games that I wanna play or replay, and I think I'm gonna make some sort of goal/list that I wanna accomplish before the end of 2014.
Right now I'm playing Mega Man X. I've played it years ago when I first got it, but never beat it. I'm maybe halfway through right now. After that, I wanna play X2 and X3. Aside from 5-10 minutes here and there, I've never played either. I also wanna play Mega Man and Bass, and possibly replay MM7 since it's been a long time. Though I think I might wanna space them out a little.
After the MM X's, I think I wanna tackle an RPG. There's a good list of SNES RPGs that I haven't played yet. I think it's best to try and space them in between other games. It's hard for me to play multiple RPGs in a row without losing interest. I think I'm gonna start with Chrono Trigger. The only other one that I REALLY wanna play this year is FF6. If I get to any other RPG(ish) games after those, that'll just be a bonus. There's probably a good 5 or more RPGs that I'm more than interested in, but I wanna make my list realistic. I can make a list of games I've been wanting to play/beat and have 10 of them be RPGs. But am I gonna complete 10 SNES RPGs this year? Given my playing habits, no, that's not likely to happen.
There's Skyblazer which I picked up recently, so I suppose I should play that one. There's a couple of games that I don't have carts for, but I'll just play on a flash cart. Demon's Crest is one that comes to mind. I'll have to sit down and make an actual list at some point. I've never set a gaming goal before.
Anyways, back to some more Mega Man X !

Come to think of it, I've never played either Mega Man X2 or X3. Or Mega Man Soccer for that matter, though I have played MM7 and an emulated version of Rockman and Bass.
And beating those and then Chrono Trigger and FF6 this year is totally doable. I spent less than a month on Chrono Trigger on my first dedicated playthrough, and FF6 I can do relatively quick, though I usually take my time and enjoy myself nowadays. Skyblazer is a good one for after that, as well as Illusion of Gaia.

Megaman X2 is probably the easiest among the 3, and X3 is by far the hardest.
Also you should really check out Robotrek
. It's a light hearted JRPG with a fun (if unbalanced) combat system and nice graphics (the battle theme is really annoying though :/). Also you can beat it faster than your usual JRPG, so you can add another JRPG beaten this year with less effort

Gasp. As such an avid SNES gamer/collector, I figured you must've played them at some point. Definitely play them when you can, you're missing out on some of the best Mega Man games the SNES has to offer. I would say that X2 and X3 are superior to X, with X2 being the best of the three.Ack wrote:Come to think of it, I've never played either Mega Man X2 or X3.
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Haha, it's not that I haven't wanted to, it's the price! I've never played most of the really expensive games on the console, specifically Hagane, Fun 'N Games, Harvest Moon, Castlevania: Dracula X, Mega Man X3, Final Fight Guy, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy(not to say I haven't played a Ninja Gaiden game, just not this particular version), Wild Guns, Aerofighters, Metal Warriors, Pocky and Rocky 2, and Demon's Crest. I have played Earthbound and EVO, and I own Super Turrican 2.Wispmage wrote:Gasp. As such an avid SNES gamer/collector, I figured you must've played them at some point. I'm hoping that I can pick up a lot more for the console and then have the bubble burst, prices drop, and be able to find these for much cheaper than they currently go for.
