Series called Log Horizon. Similar to Sword Art Online and .//Hack

Project Diva Extend has the strongest track listing, by far, between the three PSP games. I would start there. Here's a glimpse of most of the tracks. (Hatsune Miku specific.)SamuraiMegas wrote:Okay, I want to listen to some Hatsune Miku to see what the fuss is about. What are some good songs?

Stand-outs are probably:
Spica -39's Giving Day Edition- (Interesting note: 39 can be read as, 'san kyuu'; or a super-Japanese way of pronouncing, "Thank you." —Crafty Japanese bastards.)
Electric Angel
Yellow
Puzzle
*Hello, Planet.
Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu
The best, and subsequently my favorites for Extreme mode:
Iroha Uta
Roshin Yuukai
Musunde Hiraite Rasetsu to Mukuro
Ura Omote Lovers (or it would be one of my favorites in Extreme, if I could clear it more consistently.)
Rolling Girl
I don't really like VOCALOID stuff outside of the Project Diva games, though. Before playing them I hated it all. Now I find it mostly terrible with some occasionally interesting tracks. I wouldn't recommend going too far off the beaten path with the VOCALOID productions; they get pretty outrageously horrible.

It will take me quite a while to catch up that far so I won't have to worry about that for while. I'll probably take a break pretty soon to watch Attack on Titan and maybe another small series.Fragems wrote:Sitting on One Piece Episode 629CavZee wrote:I've actually started watching One Piece over the last month or so. I actually had low expectations coming into it but I'm really loving the world and the cast of characters. It's also quite funny in quite a few places though I feel that sometimes they take the silliness a tad too far in certain scenes where you might expect a more serious tone.
I think a big reason I like the show is the pirate theme and overall sense of adventure that the characters go through. I'm even enjoying some of the "filler" episodes because of the cast's interaction with each other. I'm up to episode 130 something (just finished the Arabasta arc) and the show just seems to get better and better.. Show is still going strong but the whole 4-6 minutes that the intro and recap take up every week is a real killer when you are watching it one episode at a time

I'll agree that most Vocaloid songs are horrible - most music is bad, and Vocaloid has a really low barrier to entry. That said, there's some amazing less-popular stuff out there. I'll link a few of my favorites.pierrot wrote:I don't really like VOCALOID stuff outside of the Project Diva games, though. Before playing them I hated it all. Yeah, I didn't necessarily mean that there wasn't anything else good out there, just that it would potentially require wading through a lot of stuff like this this, which may or may not be worth it.Valkyrie-Favor wrote:I'll agree that most Vocaloid songs are horrible - most music is bad, and Vocaloid has a really low barrier to entry.

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
I should say two things a little more clearly...
1. A huge number of anime fans who are not musicians play with Vocaloid because Miku is kawaii as hell and they can't help themselves. That's cool, but they upload all their songs to youtube. The percentage of horrible increases. It doesn't help that producers are almost always self taught and the instrument has been widely used for...eight years now? Was it 2006 Miku came out?
2. Some of the albums I linked - like DYE/Synthesis EXTENDED - are some of the best music of the past ten years. Not "pretty good" but "anyone who likes music must hear it."
BTW, I did enjoy the song you linked
The production was terrible but there's a good melody in there somewhere. It felt like something ryo would do...well, maybe even more straightforward.
The MIDI instruments remind me of writing guitar, bass, and drum tabs for my friends only to realize they could not read tabs and were too dumb to learn. Good times!
These completely lifeless instruments can be used to build great songs - some fringe musicians even use them just to make a statement. Like, "my compositions are so good they don't need instruments."

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
hey guys!
I need some help.
Since I have a new computer running windows 8, I need a good comicbook reader program!
Can you link some good ones that work for you?
All I'll do is pretty much read manga. I used to have some US comics but those I lost when my computer was stolen.
I've downloaded two of them and neither work as good as the old one that I had on my old windows XP. One doesn't load anything at all, saying file not found/cannot load and the other doesn't let me backspace! Its getting frustrating!
I cant even remember the name of the one I used to use. But I knew it was a beta version.
Help me out please!

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
Picked up The Woman Called Fujika Mine recently. I've heard good things about it and will start digging into it tonight. I was going to start it last night but an incessant pounding in my skull convinced me otherwise. Maybe my head will be more cooperative with me tonight
In semi-related news, I received an email from "Toonami-Tom" informing me that I'd won the "Week 2" t-shirt design from December's T-shirt Giveaway and to expect it by the end of February. My first thought was "Yay!" My second thought was, "Wait... did I even enter that contest?" I don't remember doing it, but considering how late Toonami airs my memory may very well be fuzzy. I guess I'll find out by the end of next month.
