I've yet to find a good deal here at Good Will. They've started listing on Ebay heavily (at least around the LA area). Local thrift shops are your best bet. Maybe I'm just unlucky at Good Will. :P

I started getting a ton of N64 decks when I was putting together my set and I found the best way to rid myself of them was to simply give them away. I would toss in a game or two that were doubles, nothing special usually but I was able to share my hobby. I think I goofed though, now I dont think I have one of the original color decks LOL.

Oh yeah, I put them in a few mystery boxes I did.

I splurged a bit with some money I got for Christmas. I picked up a few games from eBay at a little less than FMV.

It was about $82 shipped for the two of them. Both the cases are in great shape too. No cracks or broken hinges. Just a few scuffs.

I've spent a little time on the Shopgoodwill site they have but there shipping/handling rates are high and the items seem to get bid up higher then eBay :P. Plus almost everything is sold as is untested :P.

Also have noticed some shady stuff going on. From time to time a store will have two different auctions for the same item :P(could be accidental double posting but they never seem to correct them).

I'm glad someone else has mentioned this. I still look but I don't buy anything from shopgoodwill.com any more. You really have to be choosy and pay close attention to those auctions. The shipping is often astronomical ($10-15 for an NES cart?) and like you said, as is on 99% of the items and you can't ask the seller questions. Why people pay over eBay is beyond me because there is ZERO protection from misleading listings and faulty items. I have a hard time believing that buying above market value is to support the Goodwill mission, which in itself is questionable.

I was introduced to the site about a year ago and found some sub-eBay prices and bought a few systems, none of which worked. The worst was an Atari Lynx which was listed as "In good shape but untested". When I got it the battery compartment was corroded to hell and I had a hell of a time trying to pry those old exploded batteries out. Needless to say, it was too far gone to save because the acid leaked all over the internal components and ate though the silicon board. Of course, the corrosion wasn't mentioned in the listing and no pictures of the compartment were shown. It's a harsh lesson learned but I know to be more selective of what I but and who I buy from.

I have gotten a few decent deals though. I got a Super Castlevania IV for $18 shipped. It was filthy as hell but in the listing I could see the label was good and the cart wasn't damaged. It cleaned up really well. I don't think it would have sold so low if they took 2 minutes to wipe the crud off. I now tend to only browse for stuff that probably isn't going to appeal to the average person who isn't quite as savvy with cleaning and repairing stuff but generally their shipping policy makes almost any auction unreasonable. The only other decent deals I have gotten were a boxed SNES mini that was almost brand new (everything was still in the plastic bags, unopened) with all the paperwork still sealed for around $100 shipped and a boxed NES challenge set in great shape for about $60 shipped. Not bad for an auction site but anomalies compared with all the bad experiences I've had and far from the prices you might expect from a entity who's inventory is supplied by free donations.
"Oh great, another box of useless sh*t."

I once took a shot in the dark from an online Goodwill sale. It was Splatterhouse 3 for $10 shipped with no real description or picture so no way of telling what shape it was in. It came complete and in great shape. It always pays to look.

I hate shopgoodwill. I swear they must have employees bid shit up. For years i've bid on tons of things and it never ended up being a good deal, just bidding wars. But the same kind of items i may bid on once and forget about, it seems they always ended a buck or two over me for decent deals. Its happened to many times.

SNES Mario Kart - Christmas Present From Daughter
The start of the Mario Karts, came with clear outer plastic box that opens easily. My daughter first made me open this present. She put the tease knowing I did not own a SNES console.

Portable SNES/SFC Hyperkin SupaBoy - Christmas present from Daughter
 Aha, the surprise second present! This is version 2.0 with a better battery life and higher game compatibility rate. Even FX games work. A very sweet unit that surprisingly emulates the games pretty well. I remember BookOff had a few obscure CIB imports in stock, made a quick run.

SFC Nichibutsu Arcade Classics - $10.00 BookOff
CIB complete and includes the exclusive Crazy Climber game!

SFC Mario Picross - 15.00 BookOff
Anything Mario automatically is a higher price. Now this one is really different! Plays like the Arcade game Logic Pro.

SFC Super Gussun Oyoyo - $21.99 shiipped Ebay
Bit pricey but well worth it for the obscurity. This is the game I was looking for on that mad dash to BookOff. Still need to get part 2 of this very unique puzzler.

Now on a hunt for SFC controllers. :)

I did a more in depth view on this group of finds, along with additional info. It is in the Portable Game Guide which has all of the reviews indexed in the OP.
