will be playing some toy commander and some tony hawk 2 today but I have a question about something. Is the broadband adapter worth the 80-100.00 to pick up? I mean can I still go online with the dreamcast? Or is it just something collectors just go for. I didn't think there are still servers online for dreamcast except for like pso 1 or 2.

there are only a handful of games still online. Some w/ private servers, some still using their original official PC/DC servers. The only games the BBA can play is PSO, Quake III, Sega Swirl and the homebrew port of Doom.mas wrote:Is the broadband adapter worth the 80-100.00 to pick up? The other games that are online still are Planet Ring, Maximum Pool, Starlancer, and 4X4 Evo. However these games only work with a dialup modem. And all the BBA games I listed will also work with the modem. So that said, if you can find a cheap (or better yet free) dialup ISP, then that's really a better option.

Are there any servers for Alien Front Online? That game was amazing. Tokyo Wars meets War of the Worlds. I still play it single player sometimes just to wreck the environments.

nope. The only games still online for DC are the ones I listed. There's always rumors of other games come back. And sometimes that is a reality - Planet Ring only got a private server in 2013.Gunstar Green wrote:Are there any servers for Alien Front Online? That game was amazing. Maybe someday then. I literally bought Alien Front Online a month after the servers shut down and didn't realize they were gone so I never got to try it online.
I've always been a big Tokyo Wars fan though so the purchase was still worth it and I don't think it cost me a heck of a lot as Dreamcast games were flying off the shelves for a pittance at the time.

still waiting for a convenient way to play Dreamcast games online through reasonably priced products ($60?)

Just wanted to clear something up about your statement, given that a dial up ISP still runs about $9.95 a month. You can make a broadband modem simulate a dial up connection, there is no need to pay for dial up (or buy an ethernet adapter) to play those games. Here's a guide that walks you through it: http://dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtop ... f=3&t=3122 There is (maybe was) a community that plays the Saturn online games in the UK as well, I played with those guys back around 2007-2008 or so and did it this way without ever paying for dial up.noiseredux wrote:there are only a handful of games still online. Well been wanting to play some dreamcast but my tv is being used all day and I want to play before the patriots game.

Someone else knows about Tokyo Wars. That alone is amazing. I think the only cabinets I saw (and played) were imported from Japan, for they all had the Japanese writing and 100 yen coin slotsGunstar Green wrote:I've always been a big Tokyo Wars fan though so the purchase was still worth it and I don't think it cost me a heck of a lot as Dreamcast games were flying off the shelves for a pittance at the time.
My favorite thing, 1 vs 3. I knew the game so well I'd take the handicap, kind of like Combat on the Atari 2600. I'd always do well.
