Super Gaming Marathons
Re: Super Gaming Marathons
Me and my friends are just about to do a Sonic Marathon. Were more focused on the older main series though, the new one's are not really impressing me. You could go with something like a Segathon but instead of playing every game they ever made just focus on ones of your favorite Sega systems, or even just playing highlights. Getting a good entertaining lineup and some buddys with a lot of free time works great for me.

Yeah, I'm figuring that I'm going to at least try every game but if I get bored or the game just sucks, I'll skip it.

Well If I were you I'd probably go with a region on top of it. A lot of companies, even small ones, release tons of weird Japan only release Gaiden and other side games.
A suggestion, it isn't a real small company, but if you own the consoles needed, try out Treasure US only releases.
You get a lot of good pump for the whole marathon that way with titles like: "Gunstar Heroes", "Bangai-O", "Alien Soldier" and "Ikaruga". Though some of their titles are expensive to locate legite, i.e. "Radiant Silvergun" which is notoriously expensive.
And you even to break the crazy hard games up with weird stuff like "McDonald's Treasure Adventure".

Completely forgot about Treasure. Think I might just go with that.

I was going to suggest Treasure as well, but not Treasure US only. You'd be missing several important games like Alien Soldier and Radiant Silvergun. Get your facts right, 'duct!

Yeah, it's sort of been my mission these last few years to try out all of Treasure's games, but it takes a lot of dedication (money). It's a good company to go with in that they don't have all that many games, but a lot of them are rare or Japan only, and a handful of them are actually pretty blah.
I would say don't bother with their licensed games, except maybe the Bleach DS ones.

I think he was just trying to present an easier task, Doctor. The rarity of the Japanese games would cost me a pretty penny. I'm probably going to use emulation for the most part, so it's not entirely out of the question.

Well I didn't say Radiant Silvergun was a US release. I used it as an example of the how expensive some legite titles can be, especially imports.Doctor Fugue wrote:I was going to suggest Treasure as well, but not Treasure US only. And Alien Soldier did get a Virtual Console release in America.

Just busting your balls a bit. Sorry.
Should the VC or emulation count in these marathons? Seems a bit fake to my purist brain.
