I also just beat Assassin's Creed 4. It is pretty great all round, probably second only to AC2. In some respects the nautical angle makes it superior in scale and scope, whereas the lack of the very identifiable landmarks of AC2 make most towns seem samey. It still has the same problems all AC games have with regards the context sensitive controls, meaning you'll vault a wall when you wanted to lean against it or attack an enemy when you wanted to ignite a barrel. A small price to pay for such an engaging adventure though.
There's some great detail in here as well; the sea shanties your shipmates sing, the dolphins that follow your boat through calm waters and the epic scale of battling two Man 'O' Wars whilst a hurricane rages around you. And all them British accents! Geordie, scouse, west country and welsh all sounded authentic.
I rather liked the present day missions myself. I thought the meta-textual setting was quite amusing and endearing whilst poking fun at both Ubisoft and the audience. I still don't like the Precursor civilization plot stuff myself, but it is far less prevalent here than any previous entry. The FPS-lite gameplay for this section is a bit slow and cumbersome I agree, though for once the lush opulence of the office reflects that of Kenway's Caribbean exploits, unlike Desmond's succession of dimly lit basements.
A great game that has revitalized my interest in the series.

I've only beaten two so far.
1. Streetpass Quest
2. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box

I need to cleanse my brain with some 8-bit and 16-bit legends.
Whatever gen the xbox and xbox 360 are, I'm not getting the progress I want, nor the fun I desire.
I'm only playing Infinite to beat it.
Ninja Gaiden is brutally difficult.
Sleeping Dogs has become mind numbing.
Skyrim could put a newborn to bed.
To SEGA and Beyond!

Did you give birth to our Sega baby love child?BoneSnapDeez wrote: This would have been useful information nine months ago.
I learned a few things last year regarding taking pictures of ending screens:
No one seems to care about seeing an ending screen.
I take horrible pictures.
My digital camera + my gameroom CRT = even worse pictures.
So, should I post end screens when possible?

But yeah, post ending screens. I dig 'em.
Re: Games Beaten 2014
1. Mortal Kombat II - 32X
2. Cosmic Carnage - 32X
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade - XBLA
4. X-men Arcade - XBLA
5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist - Genesis
6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time - SNES
7. Metroid: Other M - Wii
Absolutely fantastic, loved every minute of it.
Those controls, smooth like butter. The perfect atmosphere, dark and haunting and creepy. The boss fights, and the combat as a whole, so intense. I even took the time to find all of the items, something I rarely bother to do in Metroid games (sinful I know
).
I heard the complaints on release. Now that I've played it, I completely disagree. No bad game could be this damn fun.
I hope the next Metroid maintains Other M's style of gameplay.
Hate me if you want, I don't care.

Most of the complaints I heard included "doesn't play like a Metroid game", "Doesn't feel like a Metroid game", etc.
Well neither did Metroid Prime, and I like that series as well. I don't mind when games go in a totally new direction.

The only valid complaint I have heard about Other M is that it undermines Samus' character - the story makes her way, way too dependent on the approval of Adam for her self-confidence. And I dig that. I agree that the girl who fought Mother Brain twice, exterminated every natural Metroid in existence, and is so feared by the Space Pirates that they are willing to contaminate their whole species to get the power they need to face her shouldn't really need the approval of ANYONE to be happy about herself.
But that's like a single mote of dust atop a masterpiece.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
