!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I didn't like Super Double Dragon all that much either. But I'm still a valued member here
Since I've inadvertently started SNES confessions hour:
Can't help myself here...

I hate Secret of Evermore. The graphics are dark and murky, the ambient parts of the soundtrack were a bad idea IMO, the sound effects suck, and the hit detection is horrendous. And that clusterfuck of a market, good lord...

I've never liked any of the Kirby games like Kirby Super Star. They just never clicked with me.

To me the Mortal Kombat games have all aged hooorrrrrreennndously and I can't stand playing them for longer than a couple minutes.

I also see zero point in buying/playing the original US release of Final Fantasy II/IV because the pacing and translation are so beyond butchered.

I agree with most of the negative things that have been said in this post and the past few post. I understand most of the criticisms except Secret of Evermore which I've never played.

Mortal Kombat was always a shallow game. I've talked about this before. Really only became popular because of the graphics and violence, so it's no surprise it has aged like doodoo.

Street Fighter crew checking in. 8)

Some negatives I have bout some SNES titles

FF4 - I dont see the point in playing the SNES version of FF4 either. Might as well play the retranslated ones.

FF6 - Never clicked with me. The plot is just so slow, and the action is generic (and easy/broken). Chrono Trigger is the real FF6, na mean?

Kirby Superstar - The only Kirby game I played to completion, I was pretty underwhelmed since this is supposed to be the best one. I remember one night I was playing this on another TV at a friends house while everyone was playing Rockband. I beat it in like 20 minutes or what ever, and I was like "was that it?". It was pretty mindless, albeit I see some of the appeal, but baby difficulty games are a major turn off to me unless the controls feel really good or there is a plot or something.

DKC - Good platformer but not great. I've always found it strange how some people say they only care about gameplay and not graphics, yet cite DKC as an all time great game. DKC is really only unique and is only loved primarily because of its graphics and how expansive it is (a lot of secrets). The actual platforming to me has always felt restricted compared to Sonic & Mario. I've been meaning to replay the old ones, because I think the Wii one kicks ass so I'd like to see if I am just not remembering the game wrong.

Super Mario RPG - I agree with the person who says it shouldn't be lumped up with the GOAT rpgs of its era. Also, why anyone would like the platforming aspects of that game is beyond me. The depth perception in that game is fucked up. It's fun, but a little strange how its fandom goes to such extreme heights when it's really not that unique of a game outside of its aesthetics. I feel like there are a lot of RPGs that offer a lot more but won't ever get any praise of Mario RPG because of brand recognition.

Secret of Evermore > Secret of Mana

Seiken Densetsu 3 > Secret of Evermore

but the best action RPG on the SNES is............. Ys IV. 8)

20 minutes? Baby Difficulty?

Sounds like you only beat Spring Breeze, the first and easiest of the '8 games' in Kirby Superstar. 20 minutes would be incredibly fast to have beaten Dyna Blade, Meta Knight Returns, The Great Cave Offensive and Milky Way Wishes too.

None of the game is crazy hard, but Spring Breeze is meant to be a push over. It's a glorified tutorial that doubles as a remake of the first Kirby game, Kirby's Dream Land.

I completely disagree with DKC being more about graphics than gameplay too. I feel the gameplay in the DKC games (particularly 2 and 3) to be spot on, and I actually like them more than most of the 2D mario games.

I've yet to play Ys IV. I should now. But alas, my furry friend, I'm loathe to put Secret of Mana down so far since it is the only one of those four you mentioned to allow simultaneous 3 player action. That alone puts it ahead of Secret of Evermore (which only allows for one player). Seiken D. 3 is still the better game, but it would have been the best game ever had they allowed 3 players to play at once. Or hell, they could have gone all out and did 4 player!

Not sure about the original Japanese version, but the Repro cart I have allows for 3 players with a multi-tap.

I don't think I've ever played Secret of Mana with more than 1 player. I am a solitary gamer, I think I'm the only person going solo on PSO for Together Retro.

Ys V is pretty cool, they also made a "hard mode" version - Ys V Expert.

You should try the FFVI multiplayer.
