In my opinion, the sprites look atrocious. On top of that, did we really need yet another re-release of this game? Pretty sure it's on SNES, PS1, GBA, PSN, and VC, on top of being able to emulate the damn thing on a PC. Does it really need to be on every platform known to man? Will I be able to play this on my microwave someday?

I actually kind of like the new sprites but I'm not sure why? Maybe fatigue with the originals?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

To defend the release I have to say yes the game could use a re-release.

To track down an original on the SNES & PS1 might not be feasible for most people who isn't heavily into gaming or just don't have the willingness to do so. Yes you have the download services but those are copies of the original game without the improvements of the GBA release. Going with that, one can pool the GBA along with the SNES & PS1 in terms of tracking the game.

Price- Square Enix, like a lot of other companies, usually have a few sales throughout the year on their mobile content. If the price is truly bothersome or if you're on a budget, you can wait for an inevitable sale. Various apps even track games and notify you of price drops.

Sprites- Yeah, if you don't like the sprites; that's fine. Don't buy it. Go buy an older edition if you don't already have the game. But I feel that if everyone who complained had bombarded SE with constant emails, tweets, and whatever other social connections, they would've made some sort of impact. At the very least, their opinions would have been recognized. But as far as I know, no one has done anything but sit back and complain on comments sections and forums.

SNES version is still superior in every way, in this day and age, this game should of been done FFXIII style or FFIV on DS/PSP style.

I will not be buying this version, its just an insult of a "remake/port".

I don't necessarily have a problem with it, really, but I'm just wondering why they made the sprites shiny. There must be a reason... right?

I just can't see playing this or any of the other ff games on iOS....almost every rpg and jrpg I've bought and played over the past 2-3 years on it just don't work. The controls feel off, and so do the graphics if it's a remake of a older game. The only games that semi-worked on iOS were Across Age and Zenonia and even those two I'd rather play on a vita or 3ds....

I own FF 3, 4, and 5 on iOS.

FF3 and FF4 are great ports of the DS remakes.

FF5 on the other hand has sprite updates like FF6 and a bad UI design. Makes playing with touch controls on the small screen not enjoyable. I think I'm going to finish my current play thru then again buy FF5 on GBA. Not going to buy FF6 on iOS.
