I figured you were joking, but for the benefit of those that haven't seen the pictures of lonely adults having tea/birthday parties for imaginary friends/idol/anime/game characters.o.pwuaioc wrote:Gotta remember blue text, gotta remember blue text...

The Space Invaders series as a whole has been great. Let's not forget all the memorable games and their ports:
Atari 2600 -- I bet that sold a lot of consoles back in the day
GB/SNES -- The fact that a fully functioning SNES version of the game was in the GB cart when connected to a SNES was mind-blowing.
N64 -- It was an updated version, but I think it still had its charm.
The best ones are on the Taito Legends 1 & 2 collections. Return of The Invaders, Super Space Invaders 91, Space Invaders 95, etc.

I love Space Invaders. I've got the original on Atari 2600, the Activision-published reboot, and of course Taito Legends 1/2.
The PC Engine version with the anime girls looks interesting..............

Space Raiders for the GCN is a guilty pleasure of mine. Far from perfect, but I think it was an interesting revival of the franchise. Pretty challenging too, and well worth the three or four dollars I paid.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The only good Space Invaders games I've played are the Space Invaders Extreme games. The rest are just the same old boring as sin Space Invaders.
I haven't played Infinity Gene or Get Even though, which look like quite a departure from the usual formula.

Lots of good stuff on the Taito Legends collections. I also really love the Extreme games.ExedExes wrote:The Space Invaders series as a whole has been great. Let's not forget all the memorable games and their ports:

Atari 2600 will always be Space Invaders to me though. It's the first one I played before I even knew how to read or write. There was a lot of variety that made it even better than the arcade cabinet. Atari knew Space Invaders was going to be their killer app and they really put a lot of TLC into porting it. It's probably the first truly excellent arcade port really, even if it's not arcade accurate.
