 You're not serious.
I'm serious.

At one point the main character utters something close to "Love is like a socially acceptable form of insanity". It's a statement that is hard to argue with, and at the same time makes you think (the movie makes you question a LOT when it comes to what love is).

At the same time, I love stories where a muppet frog and muppet pig fall in love. But HER is nearly perfect in every aspect. And that so many people have obviously fallen in love with the movie...well, that is another story about love in itself.

Watch it. Get back to me after you do.

I saw this at Goodwill the other day. Because this was being talked about in a positive light not too long ago, I decided to give it another go since I hadn't seen it since I was a kid. Maybe I'd enjoy something now I didn't understand then.

But no, it was still downright terrible. Not a redeeming quality about it, IMO. So incredibly bad. It was like the people making the movie, really didn't want to make a Mario Bros. movie. So they took their own script, and tried to tweek Mario stuff into it the best they could (which was terribly). Nothing resembled the video games, the cartoon, or even the comics except for Mario himself.

What's the most ironic thing about it is that there were some decent actors in it, yet the acting was still horrible.

Who disses the Wizard? Super Mario Bros sucks, despite Dennis Hopper.

In all honesty I knew very little about this, aside from what the TV spots and Redbox synopsis said.

With that in mind, while it's not really the kind of thing I make a point to watch (in fact I don't even understand why I chose this in lieu of "You're Next" or even "Pacific Rim"), I did like it.

Also, Dianna Agron goes psycho apeshit on a dude with a tennis racket, which unsurprisingly ends up in bits.

Last night, my wife wanted to watch:

Image

Switchblade Sisters (1975). It was pure trash...glorious, glorious, Quentin tarantino-approved, trash. The back half is much, much stronger than the first; so, I loved about half of every minute in this movie. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix, and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of either girls fighting with knives or trashy, 1970s exploitation films.

(Also...the villain, Patch, looks a lot like my wife...but with longer hair, an ornately decorated patch eye, high-waisted black jeans, a machine gun, a switchblade, and a scowl...but, otherwise, pretty much the same...)

I've been suggested Switchblade Sisters many times before in my searches of exploitation, but haven't gotten around to it. Patch immediately makes me think of "They Call Her One Eye", which is a very good thing.

HER seems like the story of a pathetic man to me. Haven't seen it, and don't plan on it. Its just a sad idea for a movie.

Sounds right up your alley actually.

You guys are the new era of people who said "The Godfather? Puh-lease. Sounds like a story of a pathetic man in some stupid mob movie. Just a sad idea for a movie".

Here's a novel idea; watch a movie before you judge it.
