Or just dont deploy those guys for awhile. Or have them hold towns not in the fighting path. For any given map there are usually just a few hot spots of action. I always have enough units to keep them cycled in and out of action to keep well balanced.

I love the Ogre Battle talk. So this is great.
Lots of nuances and hidden stuff that takes awhile to learn. There is also a lot of variance and preference to units. So many options and strategies.

Anyway, I'm loving the game, so I'm bugging Popo and Jmustang for all their tips and tricks to get better at it. It's definitely informed my experience. There's a lot of meat to this game, and it's easy to get lost in it.

It's a game that really lends itself to that planning/theorycrafting bug inside me.
Ogre Battle 64 ends up being easier to manage your units for promotions because the allowable ranges are much larger, no unit is like the Wizard with that dumb "be evil but not quite super evil" requirement, and ALI will naturally level out across the units in a group. So if you match up a high ALI with a low ALI then over time they'll average out at neutral, which then gets you out of that hole you get trapped in so you can choose your battles to quickly get where you want to be.

Booyah! Got a Crown in Pogrom Forest and got an Undead Ring in Sharom District. Now all I need is an Undead Staff and a level 10 Wizard with at least 10 ALI and hilarity will ensue.
