I'm just trying to say I got bored with the game. I get that it wanted me to get to level 20 fast, but it cut out a few things I really liked: world PvP and being able to run across people in the wild. Ultimately I'm a bigger fan of EvE's style of MMO, that "drop you off in the middle of everything and pray you survive" kind of game. Arena PvP has never been my style. Guild Wars was great, sure. I thought it was very pretty, well scripted, and had a storyline a lot better than most MMOs(I'm looking at you, WoW...), but once I'd done the things I'd set out to do, I got bored.

The same thing happened to one of my buddies who made it to the max in WoW. He sat back and realized he had nothing else to do, and so he quit. To me, that happened in Guild Wars, only much much faster than in any other MMO. Still, if I ever get the itch to go back, I've still got my account, so it shouldn't be a problem. $5 and you'll have everything in a decade as long as their servers are still running? Not a bad deal, I'd say. But ultimately, it just wasn't my thing.

Yeah, I play it the same way. I wish there was a central system in place where you could say "looking for X adventurers for X quest". It would sort them automatically for quests in your current area and you could just automatically form parties for people looking to do the same quests as you. That would be great. It would make the PvE so much more streamlined.

I think the only reason people are afraid of playing GW is the negative stigma that all the other MMORPGs have. Yet GW doesn't suffer from any of these flaws, like the immature user base, griefing, grinding, subscription fees.

Exactly. It seems like a no brainer for them to implement a kind of matchmaking system for quests. Instead you have to still type the quest name in the subject and pray for a miracle. I've never had anyone help me with a quest, even guild members. It's just not built for it. The quests seem more of a solo affair. But of course, they're very ignorable. Between missions and PVP, theres a ton of content to still be had.

But still, the people tend to be nice. I've made some good trades. There's a lot of honesty around. And guild leaders tend to be very generous with high end items. I got quite a few green unique weapons just for joining my guild, and since you can store them away for your entire account, along with other items, money, and craft supplies, it basically gives you a huge boost to all your characters. Your first character may be a little bit of work to max lvl, but the 2nd and 3rd can just sap off the leftovers from the 1st, and hit 20 in no time.

When I've played other retail MMORPGs, I've found that people are complete assholes, especially in WoW. I got called a noob 7 times before level 10 in WoW, and I just gave up. Absolutely no one wanted to play together. Everyone was soloing. The only other interactions were random strangers wanting to duel me, and I'd decline because they were 4x my level, and of course they called me a faggot every time. God I hate WoW.

Mozgus, you are finding far too many steals lately. I don't have time to keep up! I haven't even had the chance to pick up Half Life yet. I waste all of my PC time on here. (I'm also lacking a USB mouse for my laptop at the moment.)

As much as I hate saying it, I think I'm going to pass on this one due to the size of my backlog and the other priorities I have with the wedding in a few weeks.
