I don't like the "reboots the genre". It blends two genres, FPS and mech simulator. You've got Living Legends and MW:O as the new versions of the simulator games. Hawken is a middle ground between UT and MechWarrior. You can't move with the same fluidity as you can in an FPS, but you do still move forward, back, and strafe, instead of having a velocity and turning and torso twisting.

My initial excitement is dying down a bit due to the lack of a single player campaign. I'm not sure how interested I am in this anymore. I don't really play online FPS.

A story mode would have been nice indeed.

I always wish those games had melee combat too. You're riding in a tonnage of steel and meleeing can become a tactical advantage.

There's a Beta test this weekend I am going to mess around with some. Anyone else planning to join in?

Played about 20 minutes, not impressed but not dismayed either. The robots in this are fairly nimble and I didn't get any heavy metal vibe from the gameplay. Also it seems the mechs in MWO behave as if they're made of tin.. No one is bothering to offer us the big robot experience these days.

F2P continues to be unimpressive.

Bumpo!

So I was curious of peoples thoughts on this game. I installed it last night after watching a friend of mine play it for a bit. I just finished my first match and it seems pretty fun. I haven't really looked into any of the features just jumped into some tdm and pulled top score.

I played this at PAX over a year ago and really enjoyed it. I love FPS style and the Mech style together. It just took some getting us to how things controled and I was making some pretty slick kills. I may go ahead and do something I rarely do by purchasing this on the Windows side of my iMac and pulling out the old logitech keyboard and mouse for this one now that its out.

It's free to play chief. I haven't looked into the f2p mechanics of the game yet so I'm not sure if it's well done or not though, that was part of the reason I wanted to bump this thread.

I haven't played this in ages. The few times I've played I've done well, but it hasn't gripped me enough to play it regularly.
