This has everything I want... except that it's missing the page up/down block. Most gaming keyboards have the weird oversized Enter key that screws up the placement of the Delete key.

Why can't these gaming keyboards be shaped properly so that they can also be used as work keyboard?

It's got 2 USB ports and an audio port for headsets.
That is the exact keyboard I use.

When I was looking around for a mechanical, I dismissed several selections based on that. Happily, the ones Filcos/WASD/etc are based on use the layout I prefer.

so I went to Best Buy today and tried a couple gaming keyboards... I don't like the clicky microswitches. So loud. Not for me. BUT, ones that don't have that loud clicking do definitely feel much nicer than the usual chicklet or cheapo keyboards that come with most PC's. So I guess I can kind of see this more now. Just saying.

Still enjoying my Apple keyboard, haha. I don't like the feel of larger mechanical keyboards. But maybe if I buy a nice one sometime I'll get used to it eventually.

Part of that might be the familiarity. I use a laptop 95% of the time. Switching just feels weird.

Cherry, a company that makes widely-used physical key switches for keyboards, does make a quiet switch version. It's hard to find keyboards that use Cherry brown or Cherry clear, though.

Here's a Wikipedia article on Cherry that talks about their different types, how people mix and match them, and what the color designators mean.

Ooooo... Here's one that quite nice. Had Cherry brown switches and a proper key layout. Too bad it's $80.

Time to bump this thread. Considering a mechanical keyboard. Tried a Logitech G710 today (Cherry MX Brown) and a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate (Cherry MX Blue). The MX Brown switches felt better and were much more tolerable noise wise. I also know that MX Red are pretty common for gaming keyboards but was unable to try one today.

I'll try to go to Microcenter soon. This was at a Best Buy. But so far I'm leaning toward a Corsair K70 w/ brown switches.

I have a keyboard with Brown's and love it. They provide a nice sound, but not a super loud click like some others. It took a little bit to get used to mechanical switches, and how sensitive they are. I was making mistakes left and right when I first got it, but now that I am used to it, I would never go back. I have the Xarmor Wireless (for my set up, I had to have wireless, and this was one of the only wireless mechanical keyboards available, and it is awesome).

Ended up getting a Ducky keyboard from Microcenter w/ Cherry MX Black switches. The Brown ones are great too. The Red switches felt a little too light. Would be more prone to accidental presses with those. But the Black ones feel great for games. Brown would probably feel a little nicer for typing, but I'm willing to make the compromise.
