I hooked up my SNES again, and I played some DKC3. I've beaten the main game so now I'm going for all the extras. Can't wait to make it to the secret world and ride the crazy barrel rocket.

I know I'm a minority, but I just love this game so much :).

And in a bit I will start a new Super Mario RPG file :D

I'm actually playing through DKC3 tonight as well, but I don't usually bother trying to 100% it (or any game, for that matter). I'll pop in Robotrek after I beat it and then work on Resident Evil: Revelations.

So that's going to take some work. Only thing that's pissed me off thus far is the end label mostly ripped off (thanks to that sticker on the label). Grrrrrrr.....everything else I can fix up and get rid of, but that end label.......AHHHHHHH. I'll figure it out once I actually clean up the cart.
Goo Gone and rubbing alcohol will take care of that sticker easily. Rubbing alcohol and a tooth brush should remove the marker after some work.

If you have a decent enough printer, I posted some info in this recent thread on how you can make your own replacement labels at home... http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 49#p839849

Gonna use the cheat to get all the bonus coins, or are you gonna hunt for every last one of them?

The first time I ever played that level with the crazy barrel rocket thing... I fucking hated that. Died just about a million times.

So I've bitched about my upstairs setup before, but here's the short of it: I have a "man cave" type room in the basement. There I keep a CRT and all my retro consoles. In my upstairs room tho, I have my HDTV setup with all my current gen consoles. I do keep a second SNES and N64 there tho. It's a nicer setup, and a nicer room to be in than the basement. But anyways, when I got a new TV it didn't have any S-Video inputs. Nor did my new AVR. So I've been battling it out trying to find the best way to play my SNES on this setup (short of spending the dough on the XRGB).

Currently, I have it like this: SNES and N64 go RGB or S-Video into a transcoder which outputs either signal as YPbPr component. Component goes into my AVR. The annoyance with this is that any time I wanna play the SNES or N64 I have to hit the input on the AVR, switch inputs on my TV, turn the transcoder on, then change the audio selection to analog (because it shares an input with another HDMI source) on the AVR. When I'm done playing, I have to do all that over again to switch everything back. I know, yeah, yeah, first world problems. But it IS annoying, and I've ended up hardly playing any SNES or N64 during the entire 2013 year.

So today I ordered one of these:

I know it probably wont be nearly as good as the XRGB or some other amazing upscaler, but that's not really what I'm looking for. The reviews on Amazon have made it sound perfect for the money. So long as it looks as good as how my set up looks now, then I'm fine with it. The important thing is having it over HDMI so I don't have to mess with so many settings anymore. I just hit one button on my AVR and turn on the console. Simple. I can't fucking wait.

Getting burned by online orders is always a bummer. I just had an incident myself. Ordered Kendo Rage from an Amazon seller, who proceeded to ship me Batman Returns. I immediately contact the seller - he says he'll ship Kendo Rage as soon as he receives Batman from me. I ship it back and he gives me....... a refund. So yeah, still no Kendo Rage.
Phalanx isn't bad but it doesn't really stand out either. It's a solid shmup. There's not much else I can say about it really. I feel like the entire marketing campaign was based on the fact that it's so unremarkable otherwise.

First replay since the first time I beat it.....back in 2001.

I didn't bother with DKC1 either, but DKC2 and DKC3 I enjoy so much I'm just looking for an excuse to keep playing them :P

Also I'm very happy to see Robotrek is getting the love it deserves on these forums :).

Of course hunt them down myself :P. No gamefaqs either :P (reminds me of my childhood where I couldn't get a bunch of bonus coins in Donkey Kong Land 3 for like 5 months cause the game's manual didn't mention you could make the spider's webs turn into platforms, but then I got Donkey Kong Land 2 and I read the manual and it mentioned it, so I was able to complete the game 103% without any sort of help :D )

I kept using DKC3 as a test cart for the various AV mods I did to my SNESes. I had it powered on plenty of times without the SNES case top. I knocked the cart pretty good one time, and it froze the game up. When I reset, my saves were gone. I lost my 100%'ed save file, but I cheated to get the bonus coins anyway.

What I really wanna do is play through all the DKC games again (for the millionth time) and do 100% of everything. No cheats, at least. I'll use the players guides if I have to though.

Haven't tried it yet on my SNES, but I've played it via emulator, which is how I try out games before I buy them. It's fairly decent for what it is, plus it was somewhat cheap (3 bucks plus shipping). On my SNES emulator on my laptop, I've been playing that one, Super Earth Defense Force, Strike Gunner STG, D-Force, Axelay, Darius Twin, and Firepower 2000. Eventually I'll look to get all those in cart form to play on my system.

Imperium is a pretty cool and affordable shmup as well if you've never checked that one out. There's also nothing super unique about it but I like a lot of Vic Tokai's shooter work.
