PS3 lives on....

Has anyone noticed but there are a lot of games still being released for the PS3 next year. I just pre-ordered two of them and gave a handful of others some though. It just seems to me that there is no drop off in support.

Maybe I am wrong but in the past an outgoing system would still get some support but this seems like the PS4 never came out. May vision of this may be wrong though as I never bought a system at launch till the PS4 to compare. Personally I hope they do keep it alive with quality games.

Have you guys noticed this or think that it is pretty normal how the system is being handled?

The previous gen system usually get support for the first 2 years or so of the next gen systems life. Usually just until the bigger developers start getting ramped up with games for the next gen, then they start dropping support for the last gen. You will see smaller developers continue to release games for the previous gen though because they need to release games on systems with a bigger install base in hopes of selling more copies.

Yeah that sums it up. If Sony treats the PS3 anything like the PS2, we'll see support continue for years from now. Not to mention with all the streaming/digital stuff especially thesedays, I really like how they're going a bit hand in hand with their focus on both the PS3/PS4 right now. Not that I want this cross gen release crap to keep going though, it's time we see what the next systems can do.

PS2 lived for quite a while, and still has some sports titles and shovelware released for it.


PS3 is not going away anytime soon, especially this year. Dark Souls, MGS, Persona, Tales of Xilia 2, bunch of other stuff that slipped my mind as well. The PS4 just came out, so expect another year with PS3 on top.


Gran Turismo just came out too.

Sony systems seem to always have quite a few games come out for the "old" system once it's successor comes out. Persona 5 probably won't come out till Spring or Summer 2015 in the west. That's perfectly fine by me.

It would be kind of awesome if they start releasing all the ps3 games digitally on the ps4.. Then again PSNow is releasing soon so we shall see.

We might also get ports of PS Vita games, like it happened with PSP games coming out on the PS2
