The 2013 remake of Carrie. It's mediocrity at it's finest.

I just finished watched Pan's Labyrinth on Netflix a few minutes ago. I didn't much care for it. I know, I'm shocked too.

It wasn't my favorite either, but not for a lack of excellent cinematography, superb acting, and phenomenal imagery.ZeoDefender wrote:I just finished watched Pan's Labyrinth on Netflix a few minutes ago. I didn't much care for it. I know, I'm shocked too.

I loved it. That scene where the step father beats the guys face in with the bottleZeoDefender wrote:I just finished watched Pan's Labyrinth on Netflix a few minutes ago. I didn't much care for it. I know, I'm shocked too.

Count me in as a big fan as well. Love the fact that every single sequence in the movie is open to interpretation, as fairy tales should be. The line between fantasy and reality is so blurred that it allows you to imagine all the possibilities of everything that occurs in the movie, including the life and death(s) of characters.Frag Mortuus wrote:I loved it. Same thing goes with BLACK SWAN. It's up to the viewer to decide what is and what isn't fantasy.

I think it went a bit overboard with it, but that's the extent of my dislike of it. If it's too much fantasy, why am I invested in a little girl's imagination? Surely some of it should be real, and I thought the parts that had holes, but then, that's my interpretation, I'm sure.Luke wrote:Count me in as a big fan as well. Otherwise it was an excellent movie.

The intent was to go a bit overboard with the themes, so I give it a pass on that. I always ask myself "Did the director accomplish what he/she set out to do?". Even if I don't like a film for what it is, if it achieves the goals set by the director, I give it praise. I mean, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK isn't anywhere near a good movie, but it was a perfect love letter to Smith's fans, which was his goal so mission accomplished.

That's why I did give it heaps of praise. I can recognize something seemingly of excellent quality without particularly liking it. Another movie that comes to mind is Avatar. I'll give it praise for it's beautiful graphics, but the plot and dialogue were utter shit, so I hated it with a passion.Luke wrote:o.pwuaioc wrote: I think it went a bit overboard with it, but that's the extent of my dislike of it...

I'm trying to think of more movies like that. They're not very frequent.

I didn't like anything about AVATAR. But I'm picking up what you are putting down.
HARVEY also has that tone of "It's up to you what to think".
