I heard the 5th boss thinks this game is boring.

I'm spending my play time today on Zed Blade for the neo SotM. Odd to have 2 neo games the same month, and 2 that are both quite good, and both horis.

Blazing Star is one that I hadn't spent a ton of time with, some, but not a ton. I really like it, though I like it a bit less the more I understand the scoring and here's why. I think I like when playing for score when it helps your survival, but in a game like this, with no extends, all my deaths darting for blue gems seem in vain.

Whereas in Zed Blade, there are multiple pt. based extends, and playing more wreckless can have rewards. I went into January liking Blazing Star more, but i'm going to leave the month with the other feeling, I think.

Graphics still to go Blazing, but the Zed Soundtrack is boss and I really like the scoring system. It's really simple to understand. Blazing has more ships, but Zed actually has more unique "combinations". If I hit a mil on Zed today, i'll get back at this today, if not i'll be off until next Friday...

@noise, give it a few more runs buddy, just play for survival if the scoring isn't up yr alley, see if you can hit stage 5 or 6.

I'll hopefully have an improved score this weekend, and I think I may throw my hat into the ring over on the Neo forums.

Almost picked this or P47 Aces for my game. NMK really makes some awesomelly imperfect games.

Still haven't had a chance to get at this one, so many gaming things going on at the same time!

The auto-fire debate in this one is a legitimate one. Apparently in MAME you can set your auto-fire to some sort of hyper and it just ruins it. Some dude got 750K on stage 1 (about 300K is normal, 400K is very good - you get points for every bullet that hits a stationary object, structures, the ground, etc).

The music in Zed is so catchy and some of the bosses are amazing. For having a big ship and big bullets, the hitbox feels very fair - i'm really impressed.

I will get back to Blazing this week, but i'm enjoying Zed more. Hoping Fox doesn't follow through and hop in over there - that game is going to be right up his alley.
