Fahrenheit For Sega CD 32X floor plan

Hello everyone!

I just acquired a copy of Fahrenheit and I am quite enjoying it, but on the second level that damned hotel floor plan is getting me all mixed up! I do have the book and it does have the floor plan, but does anyone know where to find a visual guide as to where things are in what rooms, specifically the old lady and her birds on level 2?

Also I looked ahead and I saw level 4 with the mad scientist.... thats gunna kill me on hard!

In the end, what I need is a sort of visual walkthrough by use of floor plans and maps since the booklet I have has already been scribbled up. Thanks in advance!

Haha if you use google to search for a Fahrenheit walkthrough this page is among the first five results! I don't think anyone has written a guide for this yet (if ever), but perhaps a scan of the manual could help?

Thats pretty funny!

I actually think I might have to (for great justice) make a walkthrough myself. The floorplan in the manual seems to not be accurate to the actual game.... or maybe its because they way the game was filled makes me get really confused as trying to distinguish the different halls from the rooms, etc.

A visual diagram that lays out what rooms have hazzards and what have mission critical targets would be amazing to have. That is basically what I'm looking for, and might have to make myself if one cannot be found.

I'm going to try the Cd-32x version today to see if the added clarity helps me gain more bearings in-game. I believe that out of the many FMV sega cd games, this one really gives you control of the action and is fairly simple enough to jump into for most people. Then again, I have yet to purchase Wirehead (see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9hHdFbGevg )

EDIT: I just did the first level and started the second... to explore everything might take me a little longer than I thought.... still going to work on this. we NEED a guide to this game.

Apologies for the necropost, but a few notes about Fahrenheit, which my fiancée and I completed today on Hard (after beating the regular Sega CD version last night):
  • There are images of the manual at Ratigators.com. I'd suggest enlarging and printing out the floor plans -- it makes a big difference. Playing with two people, i.e. a driver and a navigator, is also a big help.
  • The floor plan for Level 2 in the manual is indeed accurate, or at least it never led us astray. However there's some weirdness in Level 1, especially when you leave the kitchen and the directions are pretty much the opposite of what you'd expect. And Level 3 is very confusing when you leave one of the rooms with multiple exits (all of which have to be visited, since they advance the plot). It's incredibly easy to get turned around in those, so you pretty much have to memorize the exit strategy, or write them down, in order to reliably navigate them.
  • Also, the stairs in Level 2 can get confusing, especially when you're going up (rather than down). The camera has a nasty habit of momentarily panning in the wrong direction after you've made a choice!
  • I'm not sure how much randomness there is in Level 3 -- I think if you just go to all the rooms with two exits, you'll find everything you need. But Level 2 is at least semi-random, and the things you need to find (the old woman, the bird) will move around between playthroughs. That said, we've encountered the same pattern on several occasions, and I think the initial pattern might always be the same. My fiancée made her own map of Level 2, and used colored pencils to keep track of what showed up on each life/playthrough; that made it pretty obvious as soon as a pattern was the same as a previous attempt.
  • In Level 2, every block of three normal rooms will have one room that needs to be tested. Once you find that room (which is either a deathtrap, a hazard that gives you oxygen, or a rescuee), don't bother checking the others in that block of 3.
  • Also, every center block has a "good" hazard in one of the three rooms, which is a lifesaver since those rooms are never deathtraps and don't need to be tested before entering. Don't bother checking the elevator room, there's nothing there.
  • Finally, make sure you understand the game's weird control scheme. The exit you're looking at is always the one that corresponds to the blinking arrow, even if the camera has moved in a counterintuitive way to get there!
Fahrenheit is fun in its way, but it's definitely frustrating when you get caught out by the random trial-and-error gameplay in Level 2. Also, I prefer the Sega CD version, which doesn't look as pretty as the 32X version but has better audio -- and frankly, the higher-quality graphics actually rob the game of some of its smoky atmosphere (in much the same way that DVD and HD can reveal the limitations of source material that looked great on VHS).
