Need help naming this game

Post by Westify »

It's been killing me that i can't remember the name of this game, wanted to know if there was any sort of console release or someway of playing it. It was an arcade game i played alteast 6-7 years ago, sidescroller brawler game looking and playing similar to turtles in time or that xmen game. The main thing i remember about it was that all the human characters in the game could transform into animals, lumberjack transformed into a bear, a hunter transformed into a silver wolf etc..

the game was sweet as hell so if anybody knows it pls lemme know

Altered Beast is the first one that comes to mind. There's another one from Konami that you might be thinking of but I can't place the name right now.

Metamorphic Force is the other one I was thinking of.

Thats what I was thinking! good call. One of the last great Konami beat-em-ups. I wonder if they will ever give it another go?

EDIT: Of coarse I meant Konami! HA!

I'm sure you meant to type Konami, but really it would be nice if both companies would realize the potential for updated or original beat-em-ups. Especially with online communities and the current trend of pick up and play games. This genre has largely been forgotten (specifically 2d) with the exception of Castle CRASHers.

That might partly be due to the transition to 3D. There were attempts at 3D beat-'em-ups, but I've always felt they kinda merge with generic action games a bit too much. A return to 2D in general would be nice, but I don't see that happening.

Still, a guy can dream.

Well, you have a few options. You could visit every bowling alley and pool hall until you are lucky enough to find it; obviously this is a poor choice, but the coolest anyway.

You could also buy the PCB and play it at home. I've never seen one for sale, but I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

The other option is MAME. It is illegal, but also the easiest and cheapest method to play your game. If you need help with MAME, Google it or ask here. Please mention whether you have a PC or Mac if you need help setting up MAME.
