various problems I need help with

Post by ThunderPrince »

Ill just start at the top:
-my pc isnt powerful enough to emulate saturn so I just have to cross my fingers and hope for the best when it comes to burning games. I take the necessary steps to make sure the games work. download, convert mp3 to wav. make new cue sheet and if all goes well daemon will mount the image. however, I have no way of knowing if it will work!
Ive tested this with several sega cd games and it works but saturn might be picky about it I dont know.

-Ive tried to burn the iso/cue sheet with failure every time. I was told to mount the image and I made a bin/cue with magicISO. is this program reliable? when I make a bin/cue for sega cd the emulator can play it but Im worried about wasting a disc trying to find out. CDRwin wont work on my computer for some reason so I use magicISO instead.
-I the bin/cue cue sheet looks like this
FILE "BARIARM.bin" BINARY
REM SESSION 01
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 01:41:28
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 03:46:25
TRACK 04 AUDIO
INDEX 01 05:47:58
etc.etc.etc. it mounts and the emulator plays it. but what does REM SESSION mean? I also got Astal to work but that was bin/cue when I downloaded it and it worked right off the bat. its cue sheet looks like this:
FILE "ASTAL.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
PREGAP 00:02:00
INDEX 01 58:09:01
how is there only one audio track? and why is there no REM SESSION on it? is that needless text?
-my dreamcast will play a game for a minute or so and then go back to the main screen and wont be able to boot the game again. it tries but cant seem to start up. it does this with both copied games and official games. help!

-when I hook up the mod chip the disc spins really slow and wont boot up. Ive got a model 2 saturn and I used the A+B method. when power goes to it it spins slowly. Ive got the ribbon cable plugged in and the chip fits in easily. I push down fairly hard but not hard enough to break the stupid thing and it still wont work. do I still need to file it down? do I file the sides or where the chip meets the slot? Im really hesitant to give up completely. help!
I did solder to the 14th pin (on my first attempt) but I got the same result, I had a higher success rate that way but I wanted to eliminate that cable so I plucked the wire off the circuit and did the A+B method since I didnt want to mess up the circuit by soldering to the pin.
Im glad I didnt mess up my saturn because it boots up 100% of the time without the mod chip.

-when soldering the power cable for the chip where should I have soldered the wire on the little metal prong thing? inside the plastic casing? I soldered to the tip to be safe. is that fine too?

sorry for the wall of text but this stuff has been driving me crazy. Ive got other issues too but these are the biggest troublemakers.

I have one very simple solution for your problem - do not steal and you will not have any problems..

Thanks for your enlightened opinion...

Saturn problems:

What speed are you burning your games at?
Do you have a different brand of media to try?
Have you tried using the swap trick to boot the games?

Dreamcast:
It sounds like you need to the PSU mod.
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/dc-reset.htm
It's easy and takes about 10 minutes.

Tell me where I can get brand new saturn games especially the rare ones like R.Silvergun and P.D.Saga. You will be one rich person because you will be the only person that knows where to find new copies of these games. When you buy a used copy isn't that stealing to because the developer doesn't get any money from the transaction. If youre burning 360, PS2, Wii or PS3 game discs I would agree thats wrong because the developer is depending on the sales of the product to survive. The saturn has long been dead and no one but retro game enthusiasts even care about it anymore. Maybe you should belong to a anti piracy forum not a retro game forum.

Looks to me like you may have got some bum images. I used to download them from http://www.Emuasylum.com and very rarely had a problem. They came in ISO, MP3 format and all I did was change format to WAV and use the Sega cue maker which can be downloaded from here. http://www.racketboy.com/downloads/sega-cue-maker.htm I burned them Alcohol 120% on the lowest speed and 95% of them played perfect.

Ill give that site a try and report back if I have any problems. thanks.
also, that kirby av is messed up. I had it as my desktop for a while.

sometime when I try to mount an image it says "Unable to mount image. Sampling rate must be 44100". what does this mean?

*edit*
ok, I had a problem. why do I have to pay!?
isnt charging for them more illegal than downloading for free?

Your probably right but I became a member over 3 years ago and downloaded tons of games and have had no problems with bad images. You download them for free from somewhere and are having all kinds of problems. For me it was worth it, to be able to download without worry of seeders, leechers, viruses and other crap on my computer I don't want. Not to mention all good images and ROMs. Its not for everybody but for people that want a easy interface no bullshit the small fee is worth every penny. They have a great selection of games as well spanning almost all the systems such as Saturn, Dreamcast, TGCD and Sega CD.

Well, y'know underground-gamer is free and all...

There's a thread dedicated to asking for invites on this very forum.

Never had a problem with any game I've downloaded from the goodsets torrents on there.
