Beat Very Hard mode tonight, and three things: (1) Much more interesting reading through all the Red Ring Rico notes after playing through Phantasy Star 2 (2) Yikes, I forgot a lot about fighting the final boss, and nearly died a number of times; mobs in the Forest area are krunkin' harder than I remember, in Ultimate (3) Wow, I also forgot how much they beefed up the visuals for Ultimate mode/ver 2.

Pitiful drops from the Ice Dragon, but that's all right. I should probably do some missions, anyway.

RAmar = Level 15
RAmarl = Level 20
(Maximum is 30 on Forces)

Excepting Anti which is level 5 for RAmar and 7 for RAmarl. 7 is max for Forces as well.

Also this is specific to Blue Burst and different in older versions of the game:

RAmar can learn Shifta/Deband, the buff spells only. RAmarl can learn both Shifta/Deband and Jellen/Zalure, the debuff spells.

It's similar for hunters, HUmar gets level 15 and HUnewearl gets level 20, except HUmar gets the debuff spells instead of the buffs (again this only applies to Blue Burst).

Oh yeah that's right, Forces are also the only class able to learn the dark spell Megid (instant kill) and light spell Grants (heavy single target damage).

The only problem is with 11 attack spells, 3 healing spells, 2 buffs, 2 debuffs, the ever useful telepipe spell and the constant need to neck some TP restoring fluids and have anti-paralysis items to hand, finding a good set up for any situation is a bit of a pain. And thats not including the attack commands.

I currently use Attack (just the quick one, to break boxes with), Zonde (lightning) and Foie (Fire) on my main ability set with Barta (Ice), Resta (Healing spell) and Monofluids on the alternate one.

I use the status curing spell, telepipe spell, antiparalysis item, all 4 buff/debuff spells on my number keys. I'm not sure which spells I should be packing in the last 3 though - I currently have the most powerful versions of the fire/ice/lightning spells there, but other than the lightning one they dont see much use. I dont have Megid, Gants or Reverser yet.

Is there something else you think I should be using more?

Spells can also be cast from the menu and don't have to be bound to keys. Stuff like ryuker for telepipes isn't something you need to have instant access too, neither is shifta/deband since the effect lasts for a while so you can just cast them from the menu under techniques.

There's also a quick menu that you get by pressing ctrl+end that you can use for quickly switching weapons, but if you press left or right when it's open it will also cycle through items and techniques. That eliminates some of the need to have everything mapped.

Later in the game a lot of people just carry Sol Atomizers since they cure all status effects but the shop doesn't like to sell them all the time. There's also cure units that plug into armors with slots that Force players like to use for convenience, especially cure/paralysis and cure/shock which make you immune to those status effects.

Even then there's still a lot of stuff to map and eventually you just have figure out what works best for what areas and map your keys depending on the quest you're doing.

Shifta and Deband don't last very long at all for me. They're still only level 2 spells.

The only reason I use Antiparalysis over sol atomizers is because I can just use anti for any other status effect anyhow.

I'd prefer to just map everything I'd be likely to use myself. It's already giving me a headache having to play with the keyboard as is :lol:

You can't get rid of shock with antiparalysis or anti either, which becomes kind of a headache later in the Mines.

Unlike paralysis it does wear off, it just takes a while and is really annoying.
