GBA or GBA sp? That is the question.

Post by Droid party »

Kinda self explanitory. I walked into the local thrift store yesterday hoping to find a wavebird. Now this store normally has nothing but crap, and if they have anything it's always super overpriced. But on this fateful day they had an Xbox 360 elite in brand new condition for half price, hmm cool I'll take that I thought resigning myself to the thought that I was shit out of luck again. Only when I went to make my way to the counter to pay for my purchase I noticed out of the corner of my eye a flash of silver...could it be..holy shit it is, a fucking wavebird in mint condition for only $19 ( and that's not real dollars, that's our Aus monopoly dollars) Well I was well chuffed with myself and ready to finalize my purchase when I saw what could been another. Picked it up and it was, for $15 . About ready to faint with nerdified joy I thought I should scan the cabinet for any other goodies only to find a mint boxed GC-GBA player for $13.

Now that's were the problem starts. I bought this thing and strapped it to the bottom of my main GC(snapping together beautifully, man Nintendo make quality products) but I don't have a GBA, or any games for that matter and if I'm going to buy portable games I'd like a way to play them...well portably. So I thought I'd pick one up. But which one? I like the shape of the GBA because it looks more comfortable, but have heard that the sp has better battery life and a better screen. Or should I just forgo the whole idea and get a ds?

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

There is no question DS all the way, considering you can get one for less than $100.00 the choice is easy.

well i have a ds and id say go for ds...
BUT the main reason im replying is cos im from aus and i wanna know what place you go to for that kinda stuff. the only place i know is gametraders which is ridiculously overpriced and usually dont have a very good selection of things... everything else is strictly current gen.

The problem with that advice is that the "quit it" portion of the process becomes much more complicated after the "hit it" maneuver has been completed. Much easier to "quit it" before all else.

If you don't already have a back catalog of GB and GBC games that you'd want to play in addition to GBA games then the DS is the clear winner, especially with the large number of awesome DS games out there. The SP feels a little cramped to me, but the integrated battery and lit screen make it a superior game performance over the Advance. The DS is kind of the best of both worlds, being a nicer feel than the SP but has the good screen features.

DS Lite, I think is your best option. Or regular DS.

I have a regular advance, and am thinking about getting an SP. Main problem with the original advance is the lack of backlight. i can play the thing anywhere unless there is really good lighting. I am worried about getting a SP however due to the lack of headphone port. I am also worried about getting one with a dead battery.

why not get a ds then. im not sure if you were reading anyone else's post but yah. if you can go the extra mile and get the lite you will have an easier time playing if the sun is beaming on the screen (that was the main problem with the original ds). also there are amazing games out for the ds that you most likely will enjoy! and if its money thats the issue then get a sp even if it has no headphone jack. trust me if you do you wont get any more neckachs, lol. oh and dont worry about a dead battery, chances are you wont run into it and if you do you could always get another one (its not like their expensive or anything). finally you could go the illigal way and emulate them (not saying you should) but i figure you want to have portablity tho.
