Wii-U thoughts so far
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Why is there a ban on foreign consoles in China?
@Violent
There is a pattern of "weaker" sells more , of course its not a law but its just how it has been going. One thing for sure is that the highest spec never sold the most.
Generations of the past are a bit of confusion. Saturn was quit on and a Dreamcast was released , so here we have 2 consoles in the time from of 1 console for N64 and PSX . The Snes had just 1 competitor with 2 years in release time difference (and we know how much difference that made back in the day, N64 -> Dreamcast) . The Neo-Geo , philips CD, 3DO were niche . I think the NES had somewhere around 5 years difference between it and the Atari 2600.
One thing we both agree on is that software was always the selling point and it does not have to do with specs . So if Wii U gets the better games, Wii U could end up being this generation winner.
As for the PS3 I doubt it will sell another 20m units to match the Wii's . The PS3 sold around an average of 11m per year when it was all the rage. Now the ps4 is out and about everyone who wants a ps3 got one or will buy used from people selling to get a ps4. It could happen, but not with a $100 price difference between it and PS4 .

So I went hunting for that Mario/Luigi pack in bundle today, had to settle for the Zelda one instead. I didn't realize until I got it home though that it was a limited edition with a fancy, Zelda inspired control pad. So I'm actually pretty happy about it now. And it came in a nice, easy to open box too. Refreshing, after the box that the limited edition Zelda 3ds I got in late 2011 came in, which had the sides glued down forcing me to have the rip the box to open it. You never want to have to rip open a box for something that's a limited edition
Can't wait to hook it up tonight and mess around with it a bit. I gotta say I love the novelty of that controller. It's the largest game controller I've ever seen

I will say though that if there's one thing Wind Waker HD makes really apparent, it's that the Gamecube controller was way comfier.

Older. Not wiser.

Pro controller feels good. Similar to a 360 controller with a nicer d-pad. The Wii U Gamepad I will never like. It gets the job done, but to me it'll never feel as good as a more standard controller.

Picked up The Wonderful 101 and New Super Luigi U today, seem to be the cheapest games available for the system. Also, got an ipad screen protector that I'm going to try to cut and fit to the gamepad touch screen. I expect that to be a royal pain. I really wish you could just walk into any store and find Hori screen protectors.
So now I have to decide what to play first, New Super Luigi or Wonderful 101
