I think they are right and that these markets exist, but that they are vastly overestimating that market's size and how much it wants to pay to have a "no hassle" approach to playing PC games.
I totally agree. Then again it could take off.. But it's not like Alienware x51s are totally taking off either..

True, but chances are they're going to be built-to-order anyway. A "Steam Machine" config is probably just an option set for a small form factor PC that they want to have in their lineup anyway.

Given the PC market these days, any angle they can use to move machines is probably welcome.

The title of this thread always cracks me up...

All the Children: "Steambox! You're not a real console!"

Steambox: "Actually, I am."

Fans of Portlandia will catch the reference...

I am completely unsurprised that this is where we're left with regards to the Steambox. Really what they should do is partner with the LEGO group to create the implication that putting together a PC is like building LEGOs, and your five year old can do that.

I am not sure why they just couldn't do a console size PC but at prices similar to the usual desktop tower price. I mean its the same components just difference packaging. I would buy honestly.

the Christine is a really interesting idea. I could see it appealing to folks just coming from console gaming and wanting to pull a lot of the guesswork out of PC building/upgrading. Though I'll tell you one thing... that prototype is UGLY.

Wow, that's actually a pretty snazzy idea. If they can drive the price down so there's minimal overhead on top of what it would cost you to build yourself then that could really get people to start giving up their misconceptions of the price and difficulty of getting into PC gaming.

Christine would be great, if it was anyone but Razor. Their drivers are very spotty (enough that I stopped using their products), so I am wary for this device.

You just hit exactly 9000 posts.

As for Razer's drivers, I have not had any issues with the two Naga mice I have used and not with the keyboard either.. But I don't doubt that there are issues. What happened?
