Wow noise that's weird. It's like we got the snes version of mortal kombat while Japan got the genesis version.
The US version of Last Blade 2 is also missing the "fatalities" which makes it impossible to get some of the character story endings.

It's still a great game regardless of that.

Is it worth it to import, then?

Well it depends. If you can't read Japanese anyway then the missing character endings don't really matter. Slicing people in half is a lot of fun, but not being able to doesn't really ruin the game.

I would take the Japanese version over the US if I had to choose but I don't think it's a necessity.

It's been a couple of years, but all I remember is trying to win at each style of them to impress a scout which would get you into some sort of area (and Ren betting against you on some of them)

I also remember getting medals for doing a few extra fights by going upstairs in the arcade to beat 2 very tough opponents, because I got those too.

Oh yeah, I think it was one of those, but I'm sure there was a 'hidden' one somewhere. Or I could have it completely wrong.

I have a PS Vita bundle I'd be more than happy to let go for some DC games and System.

This might not be the right place to ask, but have any idea how the NGCD compares to the Dreamcast, besides, of course, load times?

Tonight soul reaver for about 1/2 hr followed by fatal fury and ready to rumble and maybe crazi taxi. I'm playing till midnight. "I'm going to take you for a ride" " hey hey here we go"
