I've heard this gif sums up A:CM

This Isolation game sounds good but it's being made by Creative Assembly. After the mess that was Total War Rome II it doesn't instill much confidence lol.

Here's some launch gameplay of TW Rome II

there's now been multiple hands-on impressions written by folks I trust. Pretty much every site I hit up regularly for gaming news ran such a thing yesterday it seemed - Rock Paper Shotgun, PCGamer, Kotaku, Joystiq, etc. - and all were quite positive.

Obviously this says little about the finished product of a 10-20 hr game, I know. But just saying that the more info coming about Isolation, the more confidence I actually have.

People once had favorable impressions and high hopes for almost every Alien-related game. I remember having a favorable impression of the demo I played at PAX in 2012. However: http://kotaku.com/5984024/the-aliens-co ... ot-so-much

good point. We should all just ignore these positive first impressions and assume it will suck since the glass is always half-empty.
(I'm assuming blue text not necessary here?)

I know you kid, but the Alien cycle is akin to the Sonic cycle that was in place for so long (and may be again?). So yes: assume it will suck and maybe be pleasantly surprised.

 this too.

I'd rather not assume anything is going to suck. I'm just not a pessimist. And I'm not just talking about games.

I assumed you'd offer that sad retort, and am now not disappointed.

I see no issue with being optimistic about the game. If it's from a series you love, why not? I never played Colonial Marines, but from what most people say about that one it at least sounds like this game will probably be somewhat of an improvement, right?

Aliens Colonial Marines wasn't horrible. For $15, I got enough enjoyment out of it.

If the people on board create a similar atmosphere as the first movie, I'll dig.
