I do. It is funny how things evolve. And even before browsers very few people even had computers or anything similar (now I guess many people don't even bother with a dedicated machine with a keyboard, owning just a smart phone or tablet). But it wasn't so long ago for some specific uses e.g. the DS browser was also paid for.RCBH928 wrote:Thankfully today most software is free and apps for specific purpose (Like video editing) are to pay for . Who remembers when web browsers were sold?
Science and Technology really have been improving quality of life and the exponential advances in computing hardware and software was a huge part of that.
A rising tide lifts all boats. That is even despite the huge economic crisis (that hit particularly harsh in Southern Europe), I wonder how much worse the economic crisis would have been to the overall quality of life - even with the economic situation extremely dire I would say that people still live better than a handful of years ago.
Thank goodness for scientists, in addition to all those nice software devs that make free software!
As some of you probably know, the world wide web as developed in CERN and it was made available "free of charge", so to speak.
