Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hello everyone
Not really a collector currently. Besides games, my other huge love is music. Both listening to (from XXth century's Musique Concrete and Berlin School to modern post-rock/math-rock and videogame soundtracks) and trying to create my own (started with guitar and at some point switched to synthesizers - hardware and software).
Back to games... Honestly, i started with Sega Genesis when i was a kid and than i was a PC gamer for a long time. But some years ago i became interested in different platforms and games that came out during all that time. I still have much to try and learn. And y-y-yes, i also wanna make my own game..one day..yeah

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hey there,
I'm SuperDerek, I've been a lifelong game lover, starting with my first Nintendo Entertainment System when I was 4 years old, back in 1990. Back then, I wanted to be a video game tester when I grew up, to help make sure games were fun enough before being released.
I've been collecting "seriously" now for probably a little over 2 years. My most prized game is a loose copy of Earthbound that I bought when I was in my early teens. I traded my copy of A Link to the Past for it in a game shop, and I don't regret it for a minute! My only regret is that I still haven't replaced my LttP cart since then.
My latest pickups are a copy of Hydlide for NES, and Lufia: The Legend Returns for Gameboy Color. And the game I most desperately want right now is a copy of Terranigma.
In the middle of last year I decided to start doing something with my unused skills in design and writing, along with my love of video games, and started making game reviews on YouTube. They started off pretty terrible, but I like to think I've progressed since then.
I was directed to Racketboy from Reddit, when people were making suggestions for the best retro gaming community. I hope that I'll be able to help contribute to that reputation.
See you around!

Welcome SuperDerek, and good luck with your hunt for Terranigma. It is well worth the hunt, such a fantastic game.

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Thanks! I've got a buddy down in Australia who came across a boxed copy... for $500. Sadly, neither of us have that kind of cash. Maybe I should make friends in the UK to help maximize my chances...
I have a feeling that getting that game is a ways off for me, since it'll also require that I get something, probably also expensive, to allow me to play it on my NTSC SNES. But here's hoping!

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hey everybody.
Before you ask, my handle means King Richard.
I've visited the site for years and lurked on the forums a bit. I recently decided to join because I wanted to participate in Together Retro.
I'm 28 year old guy who's still a bachelor and has been working in IT at the university I graduated from for the last couple years.
Recent retro purchases were a very good copy of PSO (GC) for $38, a 27" Toshiba SDTV for $15, a genuine Nintendo GC Wavebird for $3.
Only consoles I have right now are Wii, OG Xbox, and 360. I plan on buying a PS2 and Gamecube with Gameboy Player soon.
I've owned almost all of the major systems at one time or another in the past. I stupidly sold them all over the years. Truly, you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone. I plan on rebuying some of what I used to own.
I look forward to conversing with you.
