Nice, the King. Is your school Tech, Western, State, or UofM? I miss the days of going to see the Wildcats play at the Joe.

Yeah, I don't know why the higher-ups keeping passing Minnesota away, I mean there's the U of MN TCF stadium nearby. They can do the whole hockey festival in the Twin Cities in ONE setting - high school tournament at the X in St. Paul, college games and NHL game at the TCF Stadium in Minneapolis. And the distance between the two is less than 30-minutes away (with no traffic jam).

Well, probably(and don't take this the wrong way) but no one outside of Minnesota cares about the Wild. They are trying to push marquee match ups to bring in more viewers. But you would think they could pick a date with less sports competition, but whatever I guess.

If Minnesota ever did host one I don't think you would have to worry about two different stadiums. This is the first time they have had multiple venues or 2 weeks of activities leading up the Winter Classic. I think every other Winter Classic has had a alumni game and the game and that's it. Heck, this is got two alumni games since there are so many legends on both sides. It's a unique match up. You have to take into account the history of these teams and proximity of the two cities and country borders. Plus they are trying to break an attendance record by having the actual game at Michigan Stadium, while the owner of the Wings also owns the baseball team, so he wanted to host some games as well.

Blu,
I went to Western. Hoping for a WMU/Tech final just so I can hear the UofM and State grads I'm going with whine.

You and me both. I'm still pissed that the Big Ten teams up and left the CCHA. Any way to spite them now, I'm all for it. Even if it means rooting for the Huskies. The Northern vs. Western Games were always quite enjoyable too, even if they weren't rivalries.

I've been really impressed with the success the Bruins and Patriots have been having this year, considering the number and magnitude of the injuries on their respective rosters, but I'm really concerned about the depth for the playoffs. Bruins did pretty well with a bunch of kids on the blue line in last year's playoffs, but I'm skeptical of that working out as well as it did, again. Plus, this year, in the Stanly Cup Finals, I'd want to have a d-pair like Chara and Seidenberg if i were a team coming out of the East.

Maybe Phoenix will yoke their way to the finals—

I hear ya, man. Losing Seides for the season sucks. There's no doubt about it. Like you said, the importance of that Seidenberg/Chara combo against other teams' first lines in the playoffs cannot be overstated. That being said, this is just another tough break ( :P ) for a team that's first in their division and playing great hockey. As for filling that gap in the D, Chara was skating in today's practice, Hamilton is very close to being cleared for play and will be getting plenty of minutes, and Kevan Miller has been recalled again (presumably permanently) and he's been solid so far. I gotta say the thing I'm kinda worried about right now is the fucking Olympics taking a lot out of some of the guys, especially Chara.

Speaking of Phoenix... for Christmas my parents got me tickets for the Bruins v. Coyotes game in March 8)

That's a great gift. Nothing like watching the Bruins play at TD Garden. (Aside from maybe watching them play at the old Boston Garden.)

I wouldn't be surprised if Miller appeared in another eight games, but I was under the impression that if they kept him up for any longer, that they'd have to sign waivers.

At this point I'd rather watch the Winter Classic over the Super Bowl. Yesterday's game was phenomenal, and even more, memorable. Packed house, great game, frigid temperatures, OT and a SO, and it seemed that either the stadium was full of hardcore fans or that the crowd became frozen to their seats.

I wish the Winter Classic(s) had better marketing and advertising. It's what can get people both young an old excited about hockey again. Plus it is crazy entertaining.
