Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
You know I have always lusted after my own cab but they just weigh so much so getting them into an apartment is a real hassle. And lets face it these old CRT monitors aren't going to last forever. I think a cool idea would be to refurbish an old big red, gut it, and install a nice 4:3 LCD monitor and throw my supergun, XRGB-mini and 1 slot MVS board in it's belly and convert the controls in it to saturn so it works with the Supergun I have (and Dreamcast with a converter)

4:3 LCD's aren't eactly easy to find either unfortunately. Certianly CRT's won't last forever, but there are a lot of abandoned ones suitable for arcade use if you search around.ninjainspandex wrote:You know I have always lusted after my own cab but they just weigh so much so getting them into an apartment is a real hassle. I converted my woody neo cab to hold a 20" PVM, and I have a few extra PVM's stashed. That should last me a few years at least (knock on wood). I'm a lot more concerned with the nice 29" tubes in my candys dying eventually.
I have 3 cabs in my apartment, 1 woody and 2 candys. The candys are far easier to move, and more apartment friendly since they're on wheels. Luckily with the woody having a PVM in it now, I can easily slide out the monitor before moving the cab, which takes out a lot of the weight.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Tried out Samurai Shodown 2 and King of Fighters R2, and yeah, they're not bad. Nice motions. I wish it had more than 2 buttons, but I'll live, I guess.
The Sonic game is as awesome as everyone says it, and I still have to try Dark Arms. Even the Pac-Man was fun, as I prefer to have fullscreen not scrolling. If I'm not mistaken, most of the "scrolling" screens of Pac-Man/Mrs. Pac-Man don't give a non-scrolling option.

I don't think I mentioned it, but the "puzzle link" game(s?) is/are pretty fun if you like puzzle games at all

Sorry to make another post so soon, but I really like the NGPC's stick. I think it works excellently for fighters. Works 100x better than d-pads of any controller, including the Saturn's, imo. I think I made the right call on getting this beaut.
Re: Let's talk about your NEO GEO collecting + PRICE GUIDES
I agree. That thumbstick impresses me to no end every time I play on my NGPC. Op, if you haven't yet, check out SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium. There is a huge roster(including multiple unlockable characters), a variety of gameplay modes, and a ton of mini games which generate points for unlocking new ultimate moves with each character. Most of the characters are handled well, and there is a surprising amount of depth to the game.
I also have played through Dark Arms, which was excellent, and Metal Slug: 2nd Mission, which is an extremely solid game with a lot of branching paths, hidden hostages, and different characters with different storylines. And Puzzle Link has been great, though I'm not nearly good enough to clear the later challenges!
Heck, I haven't found a game in my NGPC collection I dislike.

funny my favorite neo geo pocket game is actually just Bust a Move. Sadly I got rid of my NGPC as just having everything emulated on my PSP is much more convenient to bring on vacation. I do miss it though

There are no bad NGPC games.

Bust-a-Move was all right. I don't find it any more special than other BaMs, though. Ack, SNK vs. Capcom was one of the four fighters that came with it, and you're right, of the four (others being SSII, KoF R2, and FF 1st Contact), this is the best by far.

No I agree once you have played one bust a move you have played them all, but the NGPC version was my first exposure to the BAM franchise so it has a certain nostalgia factor to it. Plus its one of those games I can just pick up and kill some time with.o.pwuaioc wrote:Boo!ninjainspandex wrote:funny my favorite neo geo pocket game is actually just Bust a Move.
