Sprites look like the arcade to me, just don't play it on 480p...chunky! PS2 version is most common and also the only tourney accepted version (sans Naomi). I just do not get all the hate on it...

Any idea why this is? Is there something "off" about the DC version?

I've played the Dreamcast, PlayStation2 and Gamecube versions and there didn't seem to be much difference in any of them, other than the Gamecube version having that "Easy Operation" deal. I didn't notice any difference in sprite quality - at the very least, Morrigan looked awful regardless of what version I was playing.

These are indeed fun fighters. Here is my collection of the series:

Capcom vs. SNK (Dreamcast)
Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO (Xbox)
SNK vs. Capcom (Xbox)
SNK vs. Capcom (Neo Geo Pocket Color)

Always wanted to try the other Dreamcast versions, but only the first was released domestically. What I really wanted was the DC - NGPC link cable to try out the features of the link between the games. I have both systems and both games, but never could locate that cable anywhere.

The PS2 runs slightly faster than the arcade and DC but on the DC you can up the speed settings to get it real damn close. Since it did not come out stateside for DC and so many ppl have PS2s, it's only logical to be the standard. Also the biggest reason is more ppl have PS2 sticks...same reason SF4 is played on PS3 at tournaments.

Well this seemed like a good thread to bring back. I just put this into my cab 20 minutes ago. I did not check any settings and just put 50 cents in. I 1cc'ed the game with no problem. Who are the mid secret bosses and is there a final boss? I fought Gesse In the middle of the games it seems, and that was all that stood out.

As for the game it self, on my default settings I found it far to easy. I also did not like using the SNK guys and gals with the Capcom 6 button set up. I think I have to say that I like CvS and CvS Pro. They felt more challenging to me. I really like the 4 button setup for fighters though.

Mid bosses are Geese and Bison. Groove point must be reached to a certain limit to face them though. Bosses are Akuma, Rugal, Shin Akuma and Ultimate/God Rugal or no final boss at all depending on how high you groove point score is in the final team match.

I liked CvS1 and 2 equally. Did not like CvS pro much for various reasons.
