Need a new video game series to play from start to finish!

Post by Breed »

Hello again! I'm looking for a new series of video games to start playing through. I am in the middle of playing all the legend of zelda's, but I'm getting a little zeldaed out. I really would like to find another series that has gone through multiple console generations and is mostly made up of good games. I've already done all the Final Fantasy's, all Metroids, all Mario's, all Resident Evils, all Tekkens (only a few characters full arcade clear) and other smaller run series like Golden Sun, Advance Wars, Banjo-Kazooie, and a few others. I really enjoy seeing how these games changed from each generation to the next, from the new ideas they implemented to how they took stuff from older titles in the series and reworked them into the next iterations. So if any one has any suggestions I'm open to anything!

The Star Ocean games are pretty good if you haven't tried them yet.

I'm with Ziggy. Castlevania!!

I'm toying with the idea of doing a Castlevania run in 2014 too. Just started up Castlevania on the WiiU last night.

I've actually played the one on ps1 and then Star Ocean Till the End of Time. I know theres a xbox 360 Star Ocean and then theres one on the Super Famicon and one on GBA but they are Japan only I believe. If you know of some one who has made an english translation ROM of it I might be down to emulate them and finish the entire series.

Oh man I hadn't thought of Castlevania, I actually just picked up Super Castlevania IV for $20 at our local Disc Replay. I don't have Dracula X so I'd have to emulate that one, but I have almost every other one. I'll think about those, that is a really long running series, there are a ton of games for it.

Now to Sonic, I love Sega and I love sonic but I have no desire to play all his games, especially the garbage that has come out in the last decade and a half. I bought my nephew Sonic 2006 without reading the reviews, he loved it, and I wanted to take the disc out and break it watching him play it. He's 8 though so he doesn't know any better.

Man I've never heard of Vampire Killer, is that really an American release?

Thus the difficulty levels I assigned them. ;)

However, doing all the 2D platformers isn't bad, except Sonic 4. The only middling, though, compared to the awesomeness of Castlevania. I want to do a Castlevania 2D run one of these days, but I don't own Rondo (or a Turbo Duo) yet.
