I never knew the connection between Dragon Quest and DragonQuest. I had always heard it was because American audiences would be more receptive to "warrior" than a mere "quest", and always thought that was really stupid (as someone who had no qualms playing King's Quest as a kid).BoneSnapDeez wrote:Don't forget about the Atari 2600 Gauntlet.![]()
I love game title weirdness.
I dunno about Europe, but here in America the Dragon Quest games were renamed Dragon Warrior to avoid copyright conflict with a pen & paper game called DragonQuest. That is, until 2005 or so when Square got rights to use the Dragon Quest name in the US. So the sequel to Dragon Warrior VII is Dragon Quest VIII, the remake of Dragon Warrior IV is Dragon Quest IV...

Definitely going on to Ys IV, the question is... which one?
Unless you count ROM hacks, Ys: Memories of Celceta is the only Ys IV that's in English.

Re: Games Beaten 2013
I plan on it!
I'm playing my Vita games while at work, and just started Oath tonight. I'll definitel move on to Celteca after that.
I do want to play the fan translations of both the TGCD and SFC Ys IV's. I'm just not sure which one I should play first. Which one is cannon, which one is made by Falcom, when do they take place in the storyline, etc. (You should start a Falcom thread Bone

Re: Games Beaten 2013
I have a Falcom thread in the works - though the first post is gonna be loooong and I'm not finished with it.
Celteca is the canon Ys IV and the only one developed by Falcom.
Mask of the Sun is by Tonkin House, Dawn of Ys is by Hudson.
If you go strictly by chronological release date though - it goes Mask of the Sun, Dawn of Ys, then Memories of Celceta.
Glad you started Oath in Felghana! I forgot all about that for some reason.

Knights of the Round (PSP)
Another great beat 'em up, though I vastly prefer The King of Dragons and the D&D games due to the assortment of fantasy creatures.
Commando (PSP)
CONGRATULATION
YOUR EVERY DUTY FINISHED
I've actually never played a Commando arcade, I tend to think of this as an NES/C64 game.
The PSP version is of course a direct arcade port. Fun little game, though the bullets are hard to see on this dinky screen.
The sequel, Mercs, is infinitely superior.

Lolli is like... anime CP, but it doesn't always show full nudity. Depending on what it is, you may be on a watch list. BUT, since it was openly available to purchase in the US you should be fine, as long as you stay of the deepweb

Re: Games Beaten 2013
I can make it to the last level without using a Continue.
But then I need like 3-5 credits to finish the level.

If you've never heard of Chiki Chiki Boys, you aren't alone. I first found out about the game only a couple of years ago. Not sure why I had never heard about it, as it is one cute and fun game. Chiki Cute Fun!
Obviously if you are reading this you are also capable of googling the game if you've never played it, but C.C Boys has the aesthetics and difficulty of Sonic the Hedgehog, level designs reminiscent of Ghosts n' Goblins, and the feel of Wonderboy III.
As it is with Sonic, the game does provide a challenge near the end of the game, but most of the stages are relatively simple. Gorgeous, but simple. I beat CC Boys on my first try and it took me about a solid hour to do so.
I have a fondness for this game that I doubt will wain. More than likely it's a game I'll play every year. It reminds me a bit of Little Nemo for the NES in the fact that the game is just so darned endearing, and I do love a cute game.
