As an old skool Sega guy I mostly agree with this statement.
If the DC 2 was ever made, it would not be like the Sega of old. So we should remember the good and let that dream die.
I don't know about that. During the Genesis years, they were neck-and-neck with Nintendo, even going as far as outselling Nintendo for a couple years. (I'd still choose a SNES over a Genesis, if I had to, though. But I wouldn't want to have to make that choice.)
And personally, I dug the Saturn and the Dreamcast more than the N64 (however, not more than PS1).

PSX is better than the DC to be sure, being that the DC didn't last long enough to get its legs. As far as PSX being better than the Saturn? At the time, maybe. In 2013, the Saturn's library holds up better in my eyes.
N64 is a joke. Nostalgia is the only reason anyone still likes that system.
Problem the 64 has is that a lot of its "great" games have not aged well at all(Goldeneye is a prime example) where as a large portion of the Saturn library has. At the time the 64 vs Saturn argument would have definitely swung towards the 64. I know I wanted one over a Saturn. Where as looking back now, I think most gamers(nostalgia excluded) would choose a Saturn.

Given I can name more great Sega games than I can name good Nintendo ones, I don't agree. And most Nintendo games I would list would be Marios, Zeldas and Metroids.

I would think that a retro gaming forum would be the last place anyone would pull the tired and dismissive "you only like X because nostalgia" argument.

Guess I'm wrong.
Tell me about it. I'm frankly surprised to find much negativity towards retro consoles on Racketboy, and even some of the moderators on here being real downers too. But rest assured, as soon as the 360 and PS3 end production as those companies gear towards the next gen, some on here will want to excitedly and nostalgically discuss those consoles as though they were some old, retro consoles.

I plan on making a ton of these commercials with Keith as the self proclaimed ceo of SEGA. If they get popular enough then maybe they'll crack.
Aren't you concerned about any sort of cease and desist letters from Sega? This is the same company that claimed copyright infringement on videos that featured only people's faces talking about how much they like the old Shining Force games.

Yeah, i favor the Saturn over the N64 but that rose-tinted go-to as a meme/rebuttal is pretty tired; i assume other mediums (cinema, music etc) get that one too but i wonder if it's as frequent, given how many seem to treat gaming as disposable entertainment.
