So when you shut the Ouya down is it typical for it to still be humming - yet be powered off?

I ended up yanking the power cord out so it would stop.

I thought it was interesting that mid-game the controller just died (fresh batteries). I had to hit the power button on the system and then re-sync it up.

If the system has some sort of connected-standby mode then it might keep a fan running to keep the internals cooled. The device is rather small, so I imagine heat is an issue even in connected-standby.

So the Ouya has a $40 off coupon right now if you buy online. So $60 for an Ouya:

It still cant play Goldeneye fully so it is still not worth it to me.

If they slashed 40% off, I will be very upset to know they were making so much in markup . It was supposed to be sold as low as it can be. I am not sure why they are selling at $60 , which I am guessing is a loss.

I assume it's one of three possibilities:

  1. They are desperate to increase the user-base so as to make the ouya more attractive to developers.
  2. They are liquidating a back stock because they failed to meet projected sales.
  3. They are liquidating a back stock because they are going to launch a new model.

Of these, I think possibility two is most likely.

Edit: I just noticed the coupon code is "calamity". I think that pretty much shows that possibility two is right.

I might sell mine. It just sits there doing nothing. I haven't bought anything for it in months (hell I haven't even used all the free credit they gave me), emulation is pretty meh and as good as it is for XBMC, things like 1channel and Ice Films have largely been blocked in the UK (and I can't get the proxies to work on the OUYA).

"Calamity" can also be attributed to Killing Floor: Calamity which just released on the OUYA.

I'm being facetious.

I think OUYA could work if they decide to increase the specs . I can be wrong but I heard it has hiccups playing HD video? This is completely unacceptable for a new machine as we approach 2014.

I would buy it if it can be a perfect XBMC or WDTV replacement . I am also surprised the indie scene didn't take over this. The Wii has been hacked and many forms of emulations and little software has been written , while the OUYA which literally says "come and hack me" is not getting there. Not sure why

So after seeing this in Target last weekend I got interested in where emulation was on it now. Apparently Goldeneye is now "playable" in four player, but more importantly Reicast lets you play some Dreamcast games at acceptable levels.

Anyone who has one, how is MAME on it. I know you can load MAME4All, and play most 70s and 80s games with no problem. But beatemups is what I care about mostly.
