I'm a fan of Maola's eggnog, straight from your grocer's fridge. But I am a stickler for whole Grenadian Nutmeg (powdered nutmeg doesn't pack a punch).
My wife's family, as do many Southern families, make some sort of milk custard or egg custard beverage that I'm not a fan of. At all.
I'll drink any egg nog. Although I dont really like the gingerbread flavored one. but yeah, i put nutmeg in it and sometimes cinnamon. I actually prefer my egg nog pure aka no rum.
Has anyone been watching any classic christmas movies and TV specials lately?
Awesome stuff, Crono. Very cool and thank you for sharing.
@darth, as far as movies - we generally start the day after thanksgiving.
Jingle All the Way is usually first, sorta sets the mood - even though it's supposed to be just the day before, it still seems to encompass all the festivities (weather / shopping / baking / decorating / presents / parade / etc). The kids will watch this one a few times over the month. I'll do Phil Hartman lines over those weeks as well.
We let the kids watch that "ok" stuff over the next couple weeks, but my wife and I just listen in. The Santa Claus 1-3, Home Alone 1-4 (yes, 3 and 4 are terrible, but the kids like 'em just the same), Wiggles Christmas Concert, the Rankin and Bass classics (we do Rudolph as a family, as well as The Night Before Christms) but the others, they just watch randomly at night and on the weekends (Frosty Christmas in July, Nestor the long-eared donkey, etc).
They'll watch Poo and Mickey Christmas Specials as well.
Muppets Christmas Carol is great, sweet tunes and funny lines, we usually play that in the background while playing w/Lincoln Logs or Legos (we're doing this right now, in fact).
We have a couple my wife and I watch together: Christmas Vacation, Scrooged and Wonderful Life, those are the next 2 nights.
As a family, we'll sit and watch A Christmas Story, A Christmas Carol (Jim Carrey version), The Grinch (live and animated versions), Charlie Brown, The Polar Express and Elf.
Christmas Pro-tip to anyone who is visiting family or in-laws.
Early in the morning, or late at night, turn on the flat screen television and turn off any motion picture pro/uncinematic motion effect so you can avoid a thirty minute argument on why you hate it and why the old people can't even notice it but that you still notice it.
Yes, it is a big sneaky, but is totally worth it as you and everyone under fifty won't have to optimize the tv.

I recently watched "It's a Wonderful Life" for the first time. I've seen it parodied a thousand times, but never watched the original with Jimmy Stewart. This is a surprisingly good movie.

Go watch HARVEY if you haven't already.
It's not a Christmas movie, but boy oh boy is it ever a pick me up and also my favorite movie of all time.
