man, what an asshole. i don't think there's anything wrong with picking games up to re-sell them, but i HATE it when people don't know the value of something as obvious as Mario and Zelda titles. know your market, man.
I stopped at the Savers yet again after work and Mr. Reseller was there again picking through all the good stuff. I actually chatted with him a bit and he doesn't seem like such a bad guy. I think he may be a retiree. Anyway, I still got snaked by another phone checking reseller. I swear, of late this place is crawling with them. It was a honey hole for a while but I just can't beat these guys to the good stuff anymore.

Reselling is a touchy subject amongst video game collectors. I'm sure many of them aren't bad people but I dislike them because it pisses me off when I just miss games that I actually want for my collection and see these guys looking up prices not knowing shit about them or having any sort of interest in them other than to make some money off them. It's more of a competitive dislike.

I can sometimes be lumped in that category myself, I guess. I didn't find anything game related but I did find a Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus graphing calculator for $2. They go for anywhere between $25-40 on eBay. Someone actually mentioned to me I should be looking at graphing calculators, especially Texas Instruments, as something I should be buying and reselling on eBay since I was already out hunting for games. I really want to have game collecting be a self-sustaining hobby (buy and sell and buy more only using what I make off reselling the stuff I don't want) because money is getting pretty tight these days and I enjoy the hunt too much to give it up. So, I'm in line paying for my calculator and the older reselling gentleman taps me on the shoulder and tells me there is a box of Gamecube stuff sitting behind the puzzles and board games. It was a complete system in really nice shape with 2 controllers, 2 memory cards, 2 microphones, and some Bratz game in it. $25 but turned out to be $17 and change with my 30% discount card. I guess he really isn't such a bad guy.

So I've mentioned around here that I was going to get a copy of Dragon Warrior IV for my girlfriend for the holidays. I went out to a place that had it in stock forever and managed to snag a copy...there is just one issue.

We don't speak Japanese (or own a famicom). He sold the NES version sadly. But now we have a famicom game for the collection and I'll find her one for her birthday. I got her Paper Mario since its the only one in the series she hasn't played

There are some adapters out there you can buy to make this game work in an NES.

Dont know how much they're worth, but you can get one in the meantime until you find that famicom.

I cant help with the language barrier though.
