Well, I still have yet to play to much of the 7th gen. When I did my go to games were The Godfather Wii Edition when it came out. Nothing is like strangling people to death with your bare hands or wiping out the Garrote. I never played a sandbox game much or had one keep my wanting more before and this delivered for me.

I have also put a lot of hours in The House of the Dead Overkill too.

It's very hard to pick a GOTG.

I would probably have to say its between Binary Domain and Saints Row The Third. Binary Domain probably edges out closer to the top though game had pretty much everything going for it aside from the voice controls and some so so level design. On the other hand Playing Saints Row the Third in Co-op was by far one of the best gaming experiences I have had in recent years.

Other than that Uncharted 2, The Last of Us, Skyrim, BFBC2, BF3, and Left 4 Dead 2 are pretty high up there.

There were alot of remakes/compilations that I liked this generation as well.

Demon's Souls/Dark Souls, specifically Dark Souls. Dark Souls is pretty much the only game that really stands out for me when it comes to this generation. It's so well crafted and really captures the mood that they are going for so perfectly. There is no fluff, they don't treat you like you're an eight year old who has never played a game in their life... it's exactly what I like about video games all in one. Oh yeah, the soundtrack is good too, even if there's very little music in the game.

I'm going to have to go with Xenoblade Chronicles (although I haven't even beaten it yet).

Mass Effect was great, but I still prefer a traditional JRPG overall, and Xenoblade has lived up to every ounce of hype surrounding it so far. I can't think of another JRPG where the environment feels so alive, and pushes the console's tech to it's absolute limit. While playing, I genuinely feel like I am exploring an unknown world, and the true sense of adventure is staggering.

The story, characters, and amount of customization have been awesome so far. Crafting gems to give each weapon/armor unique stats, and equipping said weapons/armor to my party to change their look has been immensely enjoyable.

The Operation Rainfall controversy surrounding the NA release was for me, the most exciting game news story of the generation, and led to both The Last Story (which I did beat), and Pandora's Tower being brought to North America as well. Xenoblade took necessary strides in helping many gamers take Nintendo's console seriously.

My runner-up choice would probably be Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. That game is just too damn fun.

There are many games of this generation I loved. But none more so the Mass Effect series. While the oversimplification of it and terribad ending ruined some of the shine it had, it still blew me away overall. It gets my gold star on this gen.

Sorry to go the generic route, but gotta give credit where credit is due.

I don't think I could narrow it down just one game. So much has come out and so much has changed this generation.

Skyrim was my favorite individual game by a fair crack. Mass Effect was best new IP and series. It's been a great generation though, some really really fabulous games across all platforms and PC.

Picking just one is so hard so I'll go with the 5 games that I will remember this generation for. I would have to say it's a draw between Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect (the first one). #4 is Saint's Row 2 and #5 Fable 3.

Mass Effect was a great series but I felt like they had less of that signature Bioware feel as each installment was released. I really missed looting and customizing weapons as the series went on but it is easily my flagship series on the generation.

This would probably be a very different list if I hadn't taken a step back from gaming for the better part of the last 3 years. 2010 was my last great year of gaming.
