I was simply speaking to the idea that it's all fun and games making these videos, especially when you have a lot of subscribers expecting new, relevant content. I'm not crying for anyone or saying it's more or less work than what someone else does. Do I think it qualifies as work though? Yes, that's what I was saying. No more no less.

But who in this current conversation is saying that making vids isn't work? (i think just like, one guy said that long ago in this thread)... I feel like points I have been made have been replaced by this giant strawman who says "all these guys are lazy good for nothings who are complete frauds and scamming money off youtube for a living." No one is saying that at this moment, or anything like it.

Johnny Come Lately here, but I was disappointed to see early in the thread some people downplaying the work involved in these vids.

^I don't think we are. When this story broke, I asked many of my local videogaming friends and online playing buddies how heavily YT gaming vids influenced their gaming habits, fandom and product purchasing? And none of them cited any YT content that is now gone because of this policy as being a source of inspiration or recommendation for them.

Now do I believe that my findings are the be all, end all of this convo? Hell no. But it's enough of a sample size to realize the impact isn't that big, and a lot of crappy videos that annoying people link everywhere can now start disappearing.

Any VG vids I watched on YT are all still there (and I struggle to think I'd care if they were gone either, I'd just find other sites that host similar content). So to me, this is not a huge deal and is just fanboys doing a lot of white knighting for their favorite personalities that were affected and crusading against "the man" for a "cause".

How many friends did you ask? Do they match this number?

I'd think that your small sampling of friends, hardly matters against numbers in the millions.

I copied it straight from his YouTube Channel. And now that you point it out, I realize that that's not even the complete total, that's just his YouTube subscriber's total. He also hosts his shows on ScrewAttack's website.

A lot of those viewers could be inactive accounts by now. That's not to say he isn't popular. Even I know who he is. But it's just like when an online service lists all registered accounts when its' reached a milestone. Yet 20% of those accounts might not even be in use anymore.

Add in people who watch sometimes but aren't subscribed and people who view it through Cinemassacre and you probably have 1.4M+.
